Like I said earlier, Shanahan pointed out 3 things when addressing Shaw's suspension: -Goalies are not fair game. Crashing into a goalie without reasonably trying to get out of the way is a serious offense -There were no injuries from the incident -There is no history of illegal hits for Shaw Also, punishment was given during the game in the form of a 5 minute major and game misconduct Now look at this hit -Torres intentionally lined up and left his feet to ram his shoulder into Hossa's head. Leaving your feet to make a hit almost always means it was intentional, and is clearly an extremely illegal action. -Hossa looks to be severely hurt and was carried off the ice on a stretcher -Torres has consistently been known as a dirty player his entire career and has been suspended multiple times and been fined at least 4 times for illegal hits. He has been warned repeatedly about illegal hits. Also, no penalty was called on the play and Torres was allowed to continue to play the game. Also, if anyone is interested, Torres landed a very similar hit last year against Minnesota, and was suspended 2 games. The difference is that his victim was not hurt at all on the play, and it was 3-4 illegal hits ago. Here is Shanahan's explanation for that hit (along with video of the hit....very similar to what we just saw): http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=torres+suspended&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CC4QtwIwAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fvideo.nhl.com%2Fvideocenter%2Fconsole%3Fid%3D146713&ei=_ByOT4KzJcjgtge_7rDpCw&usg=AFQjCNHyJWKGmemSutLkJoGHtdNc4UFJ4w
