  1. Torres is such a [expletive] douche, I hate him. He left his feet to slam Hossa. Of course that will probably be a fine despite it clearly being a suspensable offense. Hossa looks very very hurt
  2. Oh great, there's the retaliation, and Hossa is going to be hurt. no penalty of course.
  3. I don't know how the Coyotes were 2nd to last in the league in PP%, they've looked pretty good at times this series. Maybe that says more about the Hawks PK though.
  4. I bet somehow Shannahan finds a way to pin that on a Hawk and suspend him.
  5. I heard on the radio that he can, but he's not allowed to play before the appeal is heard. Somebody was talking about appealing these on a NY station yesterday and the statement was made that the NHL may make life difficult for you if you try. what the hell kind of league is this anyway. How can they do that? Are they going to say "we reviewed the incident at your request and decided you actually will be suspended 10 games instead of 3?" How else would they "make his life hell"? The only thing I can think of is being harsher on future illegal hits
  6. Damn, when I read the thread title, I would have bet all my money that it had to do with blisters.
  7. This is [expletive] incredible. It's like Shannahan completely lost focus on how and why the NHL hands out suspensions in the first place. Why should external factors and previous unrelated incidents have anything to do with Shaw's incident. If that is true, Shannahan should be fired immediately from his job. It is insanely illogical to punish Shaw and the Blackhawks because you fucked up a previous incident that had nothing to do with them. Unreal. And the video meant to explain the decision provides no insight into why the suspension is for 3 games, and in fact makes the suspension more questionable. He points out 3 main points: Charging a goalie without reasonably trying to get out of the way is not allowed, there was no injury involved, and Shaw has no history of illegal hits in his past. I think he even admits that it was probably not malicious intent. So that was your basis for a 3 game suspension? Shea Weber has made a career out of illegal hits, and maliciously grabbed a player in the back of the head and (in the concussion worry era) slamed his head into the glass and gets nothing. Can Shaw appeal this?
  8. this is just a silly statement on about 92 levels get lost, seriously. NewUserName is cool. He posts in here all the time and is always respectful and most of the time very level headed about the Blackhawks and Red Wings. He's as much of a thread regular as any of the Blackhawks fans that post in here. He doesn't need to get lost.
  9. this is just a silly statement on about 92 levels Obviously that is frustration talking. I think you know me well enough to know I don't believe Shannahan was thinking 'alright! a blackhawk fucked up time to screw my old rivals over'. I do think that actually comes down harder on the Wings just to prove he's not favoring them, as evidence by the 8 game suspension due to a preseason incident and the Weber decision.
  10. I would check the Coyotes board, but they probably don't even have one. On their SB Nation Blog entitled....*snicker*...Five for Howling, they have a poll asking whether the suspension is appropriate. Here are the results: 58% - Too many games 29% - The injury question should be completely left out of the equation and until that happens its all a joke 9% - Yes, it was appropriate 1% - Too few games
  11. Also, did they even take into consideration that Shaw was given a 5 minute major, which directly led into what was almost the game winning goal for Phoenix, and a game misconduct? So the full punishment for making contact with the goalie and having the goalie milk it for 3 days: 3.5 game suspension, 5 minutes of power play to Phoenix and 1 goal scored Full punishment of Shea Weber for grabbing a player by the back of the head and bashing his face into the glass: $2,500 fine, 0 suspension, 0 power play minutes for Detroit (he got a 2 minute minor but it happened after the game ended)
  12. At least we probably don't have to worry about Crawford's health tonight. But Toews might want to keep himself away from the glass tonight so he doesn't become victim to the more traditional and accepted form of retaliation - slamming the opponent's face into the glass repeatedly.
  13. The former Red Wing gives the Hawks player a ridiculously unfair punishment. I guess he's trying to make it up to Wings fans for not suspending Weber. Shaws a nice player but I don't think the suspension will necessarily hurt us, its just a ridiculously stupid punishment. If anyone who saw that really thought Smith was almost on his deathbed on the ice you are a moron. I wouldnt have thought much of 1 game, because I understand the need to protect the goalie or whatever, but 3 games is ludicrous.
  14. Rose about MJ: His GQ article (written by Leitch) was an interesting read. A little depressing too as Rose talks about how much his fame sucks for a low key person like himself, and how Chicago apparently can't handle celebrities walking around town.
  15. That all sounds fantastic. Of course there are going to be meatballs that oppose things like a Jumbotron, but to me it doesn't make sense that you show have a less enjoyable game experience because we want Wrigley to feel the same as 70 years ago. You know what else they had 70 years ago? Radio as a primary form of entertainment. I don't see people clamporing for their favorite shows to be broadcast on the radio because that's how they were enjoyed in the 1940's
  16. Brilliant analysis. I bet most people thought we should block Jacksons arrival with a significantly less productive player like Neifi Perez.
  17. I would say a 5 minute major which directly led to a goal when he should have been given a 2 minute minor is sufficient punishment when Shaw obviously didn't mean to hurt him.
  18. If LeBron guards Rose he could absolutely go 1-13 again, but the Heat lack so much depth that I can't see any way they can beat the Bulls unless LBJ/Wade/Bosh just go bonkers. With Chicago's defense, I don't see any way that happens. The Heat is extremely vulnerable to Chicago, and I'm not sure they could take Boston or New York. IMO that LeBron guarding Rose thing is way overblown from an extremely small sample size of possessions.
  19. Is that the consensus that it's playing like a pitchers park? Or just to LF?
  20. I was at the Royals game today in KC for business and on the scoreboard it said Carpenter hit a 2 run HR and I thought to myself that it figured Chris Carpenter comes off the DL to hit a HR against the Cubs.
  21. So the only series that are at 2-0 are ones in which the road team won the first 2 games (Kings-Canucks, Flyers-Pens)
  22. Gotta be a little demoralizing to give up the game tying goal with less than 15 seconds 2 games in a row and have to leave home tied despite playing pretty well.
  23. It's nice to benefit from a defensive zone turnover for once :)
  24. BICKELLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1-1 bitches What a win! Played terribly at times, but clutch when they needed to be. Thank God. Win 2 at home and take control of the series please!
  25. Phoenix has pretty much been in control since the first 3 minutes or so. Very disappointing that the Hawks cannot outplay Phoenix for any sort of sustained period. Win or lose its obvious the Hawks don't have an extra playoff gear.
