  1. The end to the Bulls season was devistating and it still hurts. Because of their NBA best regular season without so many key guys and their 1 playoff triumph at full strength, I am allowed to state that the 2011-2012 Bulls would have swept through the playoffs 16-0 and no one can change my mind. *puts blinders on*
  2. Trivia question: Excluding Nebraska, what is the only Big Ten Tournament matchup that has yet to occur since the tournament started in 1998? (PS Before this year there was a 2nd matchup that had never occured as well, Illinois vs. Iowa)
  3. Yeah, no. A grounder right to Peralta and a toss to 2nd, and a grounder to Peralta and a throw to first. Without the benefit of watching the replay again for a closer look for something I might have missed, those are pretty routine throws. Those were ugly throws, yes, but in both cases the runner was out. Let's just enjoy the break. Doesnt mean he didnt botch the throws, but yeah I don't care, we got the calls and we win.

  5. Wow are we really going to have a save situation coming up? Amazing. I have no idea who our closer is.....does anyone know?
  6. Would have been an awesome way to kick off the post-Jaramillo era by having Castro walk home the winning run home. Oh well. Thank God Peralta botched 2 routine throws
  7. Thunder cant get anything going inside this entire quarter
  8. I really hope we win this. I hate our 67 year winless streak against these guys and there's no promises that we'll be in a close game the rest of this series.
  9. The Cubs and Twins have been the 2 front runners to get the 2014 game, but nothing has been announced either way. The Twins' advantage is the new ballpark and the fact that 2013 is an AL year to host the game. The Cubs' advantage is the 100th year of Wrigley only happens that year, and the AL/NL rotation has been broken recently for another historic ballpark. I think in the end the Cubs will definitely get it unless they don't end up getting the deal with the state for some reason. The Twins can host in 2015.
  10. The biggest AB of the game and its LaHair taking it against a lefty. The result: swing at a ball at his feet, take a pitch right down the middle, swing at a ball high and away. Inning over.
  11. 2016, I think Pretty sure it's 2014 as the Cubs wanted the game to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Wrigley and probably the renovations to the park. As of now the 2014 All Star game venue has yet to be announced.
  12. Right. Jaramillo might be a little disappointed, but I'm sure he understands that it wouldnt make sense to work in an organization that doesn't have the same hitting philosophy as him. Kind of funny this is kind of "meh" news considering the decent amount of fan fare he got when coming here. I think he even had a press conference to announce his signing.
  13. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I havent followed the minors on a daily basis, rather a once or twice a week kind of thing, so I might have missed this but what is going on with Vogelbach? I would have assumed he would be assigned to Boise, but I havent seen anything about him. I know he was working with the AZL Cubs, has he not been doing well, or does he just need more time to get up to speed? Or did he get assigned to Boise and I somehow missed it? Edit: Nevermind, I mostly got my answer reading the Boise thread.
  14. Probably working out the details. I'm guessing that's why they wanted everything wrapped up this week even though the deadline is July 2.
  15. I remember hearing somewhere that he had done a lot of work with Soriano this year and supposedly his great play in May was a result of it.
  16. Interesting. I don't really blame him squarely for our hitting woes, but if they want to can him whatever go ahead.
  17. That's pretty amazing. For some reason I thought another 8 seed had won the Cup. I think one of the teams in the mid-aughts made the Finals as an 8 seed and lost. I want to say that was the Oilers. They're the closest team to win it as an 8 seed.
  18. I mean are you serious? 10 days of waiting vs. millions of dollars down the road? How can you even argue against that? The fact that the Cubs are a Big market team doesnt mean they need to throw their money around recklessly for no reason.
  19. Idiot Devils, you are supposed to give up the 3-0 in Game 7, not Game 6
  20. Right...we should only go after players that have a 100% success rate like.....FAs? 2016 Cubs: Free Agent, CF Free Agent, RF Castro, SS Free Agent, LF Free Agent, 1B Free Agent, 2B Free Agent, C Garza, SP Samardzija, SP Free Agent, SP Free Agent, SP Free Agent, SP Yay that was fun.
  21. Didn't you make that joke a couple hours ago? Or was that someone else. Anyways.. http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/6773/murdersthrow.jpg The funny part is the Apprentice Assassins part that you can barely read. I believe it reads: Francis Beltran, Juan Cruz, Ryan Dempster, Angel Guzman, Jon Leicester, Sergio Mitre, Renyel Pinto, Felix Sanchez (?), Carlos ?, Todd Wellemeyer
  22. Hmm, that would be awesome. I hope I'm still living in the area when that takes place. Since its unlikely I'll be seeing a world series in the next 3-4 years, this is the next best event that can take place there.
  23. Who cares? Obviously it won't turn out even close to what we are projecting, but its fun to dream about it working out this way, as it takes our attention away from this crappy 2012 team. Anyways, its nice to see that we have somewhat high ceiling prospects at every position except 2B and C.
  24. I don't think its worth ranking the Cubs system until after the deadline, when it could look even better than it does now. If we can trade Garza for 1-2 high profile prospects, we might be a top 10 - top 5 system.
