  1. Bump....Fun using this to project the 2016 Cubs :) I might have gone overboard though.
  2. I don't see where anyone said that Theo's Cubs are being more frugal as a long term strategy, just at this point in the rebuilding process, and specifically avoiding spending heavily on short/medium term deals to MLB players that won't be around in 2-3 years.
  3. If Soler, Almora and Baez are all in Peoria at the same time, I'd either be disappointed in Baez's progress or thrilled at Soler's progress or both. I think meeting in Daytona or Tennessee is more likely if at all. Luckily my brother lives in Daytona Beach and is 5 min walking distance to the park.
  4. Just wait until they come to Kane County like I have done. Edit: Ashamed to admit I went to see Vitters, and watch Chris Archer uncharacteristically walk a bunch of people.
  5. Yes I'm sick of being swept by these guys. I know we are terrible and highly likely to get swept but maybe just one win guys??
  6. Why is PSD such a great source for Cubs insider news? When did those guys pass us in popularity? I remember going over there 2008 and found there wasn't as much discussion as there was over here.
  7. If nothing else, hopefully this silences those in the Cubs will never sign another big free agent camp. Not saying that they'll go all out and land Hamels, Upton, and McCarthy but that going after at least one is a possibility. Additionally, this is the 2nd hint by Sveum that at least in his eyes that Josh Vitters isn't ready and likely won't be by 2013. Wow who has ever said the Cubs will never sign another big FA? And who the heck is even questioning whether or not Vitters will be a Cub in 2013?
  8. I don't care if we give him $40 million, get it done. I think this board has been waiting to see how this turns out for months before exploding in anger if we don't get him.
  9. It's funny to watch Lalas arguing with Ballack and Rossi and they both are like 'who the [expletive] is this American bozo'
  10. The Yankees plan is to replace Swisher with...Soler next year? Wtf
  11. Mark Cuban
  12. Let's pick him up and then trade him for another crappy reliever. Dude you've made 31 posts today...slow down
  13. Is it common to draft so many prospects that have converted from position player to pitcher? It seems like 2 out of every 3 scouting reports that Raisin posted mentioned a conversion from hitter to pitcher. If its not, is it a specific strategy by Theo and co to draft players that are possibly undervalued because of their relative newness to pitching?
  14. Me too but it seemed to be really really close. I bet that umpires are scared to Jim Joyce a no-hit/perfect game bid.
  15. And they do it. I believe it ties the record for most pitchers used in a combined no hitter (6)
  16. The Mariners are pitching a combined no-hitter through 8 innings right now. Millwood was the starter and went 6 innings before leaving with an injury suffered while warming up for the 7th inning. There have been 4 relievers involved since then. PS Combined no-hitters suck
  17. Indians are quiet and treacherous. How dare you say that to Raisin
  18. Probably as much as ABC (or whatever station its on) will lose by not having a horse going for the triple crown.
  19. Fine as long as we don't have to give up Jimmy Butler
  20. I've never been more convinced of a dupe account. These are getting more outrageous by the minute.
  21. There are a few horse racing guys on the Score occasionally and from what I heard, that horse wasnt going to win the Belmont anyway, as he was supposedly not very good over long distances, and the reason why no horse can win the 3rd leg is because the Belmont is the longest of the 3 races by a decent amount.
  22. But if Almora goes to school, couldnt the Cubs frame it as "we really like Almora but with the structure that the new CBA has put into place, it is impossible for us to meet Almora's asking price. Fortunately, with Almora going to school, we will have an extra 1st round pick next year which will contribute greatly to building the next Cubs world series title" or whatever. Its not the ideal scenario, like Raisin pointed out, but the Cubs could certainly spin it in a way that limits the public damage. There will be damage to the organization no doubt, but being able to use that 1st round pick next year is better than just losing it, and gives the Cubs a small amount of leverage in negotiations.
