  1. If we win next week, we could go 3-5 in the 2nd half of the season and probably still be in the playoffs at 10-6. Not that I want that, but the difficult schedule becomes less must-win if we come into it 7-1. As far as the "gauntlet", I see the Bears going either 3-3 or 4-2 there. I think they will split the Houston/SF games, beat Minny and Seattle at home, and then most likely win one of the last 2.
  2. One thing that annoyed me about the game was the intercepted 2 pt conversion run back. How do NFL players not know that the defense can't score on a conversion? This happened to Peanut back in 2006 as well. The strange thing is that it seemed like no one on the field knew that you can't score there. What really bothered me was seeing Cutler trying to run down the returner and getting pushed out of the way. Was having flashbacks of last year. If Cutler gets hurt on a non-play like that, i might have a noose around my neck right now. Oh and the other thing that wasnt mentioned much here, is that after the Jennings pick 6, to make the score 20-19 Bears with 6:44 left, Lovie sent out the FG team and then just before the snap must have finally figured out (aka had someone tell him) that this is an obvious 2 point scenario, so he has to waste a damn TO for one of the most obvious 2 pt situations ever. Given that this game came down to the final seconds, that lost TO could have lost us the game if things go slightly different...especially if the Panthers don't choose to throw on 2nd and 3rd downs before picking the go ahead FG.
  3. I broke a 5 game losing streak with the win today (09 @ CIN, 09 vs. PHI, 10 vs. NE, 10 vs. GB (NFCC), 11 vs. KC). My friend who invited me was ready to ban me for life from taking me to Bears games (he has season tickets).
  4. As bad as they looked I am about 75% sure we win. Lovie won't accept losing to Rivera. Hopefully he gives the team that same speech as he dd at halftime of the Jags game.
  5. Well he did such a great job coaching the offensive line they just had to give him full run of the offense.
  6. Ahh the infamous Cutler Shell where if someone isn't open after 2 seconds he kind of tucks the ball in and lunges forward.
  7. I don't know. I'll admit I havent watched enough of Harden to make a educated evaluation of him, but I have seen him be able to take over games at times. I thought the general consensus was that Harden was being held back from greatness due to being the 3rd option behind Durant and Westbrook. I guess we'll see.
  8. Make that 3-16 for 38 yards and 3 INTs.
  9. Haha, Denard Robinson is leading the offense down the field, getting a 1st and goal and ready to take a 10-7 lead over Nebraska, but gets injured and hasnt returned to the game. The backup, Russell Bellomy is 1-12 for 12 yards and 2 INTs. Michigan is now down 23-9. Ugh.
  10. Doesn't Carolina have an awful defense? Or at least they did last year. I would think of anything, the game would be high scoring on both sides, similar to last year's game. The defense is due for a bit of a letdown game, and you know Chico is likely pulling out all the stops in this one, given that its the Bears and his job is on the line.

    NFL Week 8

To their credit, didn't Peterson have a ton of carries 4 days ago? I'm thinking heavy workload plus short rest plus 10 months after tearing his ACL had something to do with it. That and the fact that the Vikings were trailing all game.
  12. Yeesh, what an idiot. I like Grace too, but he probably deserves everything that's happening to him.

    NFL Week 8

The Bears line seems a bit high, but I'm sure there is a lot of betting going in their direction right now.
  14. How many teams would kill to have the luxury to just cut 45 of their season ticket holders knowing that they will easily have 45 more willing to fill them, even after the team went 61-101 the previous year?

    NFL Week 8

The Thursday night game in Week 2 was of interest to Bears fans.
  16. I also think that Peppers is having a fine, yet unspectacular season, that deserves to at least be in the discussion for Pro Bowl DE
  17. Yeah we have entered absurd territory. I know the building on LI sucks. But they had a small dedicated fan base out there. I doubt they will go to Brooklyn for the games. So now they need to build a new fan base. For a [expletive] team. Smart. What? Their stadium was a dump and nobody went. So they moved 20 miles to a brand new stadium. What are you talking about? They averaged 13K fans last year. Barclays only holds 14,500 for hockey. I haven't lived in NY since I was a small child, so I don't know this from experience like you might. But the talk on NHL Radio is all that a large number of Islander fans will not go to Brooklyn due to the commute. If the current fans don't go to Brooklyn, stands to reason they'll need new fans. Bitching and complaining after just hearing the news is not the same as actually abandoning the team they grew up with. If the Cubs moved to McHenry, I'd complain quite a bit and would be annoyed, but I'm certainly not becoming a White Sox fan. From reading the comments on their blog, roughly 85-90% of the commenters were either in favor of the move or not bothered by it one way or the other.
  18. From what I've read skimming an Islanders blog just now, most people will find it easier and faster to get to Barclays Center than to Nassau Coliseum. Apparently there's no public transit to their current arena, while Barclays is serviced by the Long Island Line or whatever its called, that drops people off directly in front of the arena. Plus Brooklyn is technically on Long Island.....they can still be Islanders!
  19. I thought for sure Cutler would make it at the [expletive] position.
  20. Wow, just looking back on this. I nailed the WC games and the first round, but went 0/2 in the LCS.
  21. Ha! I noticed that shot through the visor during the game and thought that it would make a great picture.
  22. I had to rush over here to mention the Bears are #5 in ESPN's power rankings! Ahead of them are the 49ers (4, 4-2), Texans (3, 6-1), Giants (2, 5-2) and Falcons (1, 6-0). Packers are 7th, Vikings 9th, Lions 19th.
  23. Garza, Carimi and Rachal were all bad. Webb is currently the best OL on the team and he's not even average. I'm pretty sure Lance Louis is the best OL on the team. I heard on the radio that the Bears were thrilled with his performance this year and they are beginning to discuss an extension for him.
  24. 18-24 for 275 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT for a 140.1 QBR against the Cowboys isn't good? He's had 2 great games (Indy and Dallas), 1 good game (Jax), 2 mediocre games (STL and Detroit) and 1 horrific game (GB). No it hasn't been his best year and yes his accuracy is slightly troubling (57.7% on the year), but I don't think he has played poorly enough to really worry about him. He was playing pretty well in the first half (despite again a low comp. %) and as Cutler admitted the 2nd half was just about making the short throws and limiting mistakes because his ribs limited his ability to throw bullets all over the field. Overall Cutler can have stretches of inconsistency but has also shown that he can turn it around quickly an salvage a bad game in the 2nd half. Also consider its a new offense and a poor offensive line and it appears fair to give him the benefit of doubt despite his numbers being lower than his career averages.
  25. Poster of the game has to be N&G. Good stuff out of him tonight.
