  1. 10 games in...lets take a look at the playoff picture in the NFC. Bears were obviously in a better position 2 weeks ago but overall still looking good to make the playoffs despite the rather difficult schedule the last 6 games. S - Atlanta 9-1 W - San Francisco 7-2-1 N - Green Bay 7-3* E - New York 6-4 WC - Chicago 7-3 WC - Seattle 6-4* ------------------ 7 - Tampa Bay 6-4 8 - Minnesota 6-4 9 - Dallas 5-5 10 - New Orleans 5-5 There are a couple of 4-6 teams out there too, but if they make up 3 games on the Bears over a 6 game stretch, the Bears probably aren't worried much about the playoffs. Of those 10 teams, the Bears lose tie-breakers to just San Francisco, win the tiebreaker against Dallas, and still control their tiebreaker destiny over Minnesota and Seattle (they don't control TB destiny over GB, even assuming a Bears H2H win but obviously can still win the TB) I'm gonna guess that Dallas isn't a factor because, well, they aren't that good. I think regardless of how we do against Minnesota, they have a really difficult schedule and won't be as much of a factor. It will come down to Bears/Packers, Seahawks, Buccaneers and Saints for 2 WC spots. Sounds crazy to say this but the Bears/Seahawks game next week might be a big one, thank God its not at their place.
  2. http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/185uo8nt3c7nggif/original.gif Yup, that about sums it up.
  3. If the BCS system wasn't going away in a couple of years, would the Big East have possibly lost its BCS automatic bid? I don't know how it worked and how much the Big East invested in the system but I couldn't imagine BCS bowl games with the likes of SMU and Central Florida.
  4. It's not just one game though. 10 points against the Packers, 13 against the Lions, 6 against Houston, 7 against San Francisco. In addition, the offense has looked terrible in large stretches of the St. Louis, Jacksonville and Carolina games. The only games you could say the Bears offense looked consistently competent is against the Colts (bottom 5 defense in NFL), Dallas (an admittedly strong performance but it helps when your defense helps get you a huge lead with 2 defensive scores) and Tennessee (probably the worst defense in the NFL). I want to believe in the "you're never as bad as you look at your worst" thing but the Bears offense has been in "worst mode" a majority of the season. The defense I'm willing to excuse as one game. But sadly enough, the offense is clearly among the 10 worst in the NFL backup QB or not.
  5. Hahahahahaha this is freaking hilarious
  6. I feel you are premature in giving up on the Green Bay game. Maybe. Part of me thinks the Packers have owned us, part of me thinks that despite losing 5 straight to GB, the defense seems to keep their offense in check enough to where a normal offense has a chance. Packers points the last 5 games 10, 21, 27 (packers offense was hitting on all cylinders at this point), 35 (another excuse but the Bears pretty much gave up at this point), 23. Not great but not bad either
  7. Yep...so glad we spend so much money on the backup QB instead of o-line upgrades. But don't worry Tice is eventually going to turn all these projects into mediocre players just wait.
  8. Hester should be taken off punt returns. Maybe I'm crazy and missing out on the chance for a TD or two, but he's been god awful this year save a couple of decent returns. He seemed to have no feel for when its probably a good idea to run straight ahead and not backwards. He also seemingly has no idea when to fair catch a ball and when to let a ball drop for a potential touchback
  9. Do we have enough cupcakes left on our schedule to get to 10 wins? vs. Minnesota - No Cutler, no win vs. Seattle - Much better at home, possible win @ Minnesota - Not going to win at that stupid Metrodome, maybe the roof can collapse again vs. Green Bay - Yeah, no @ Cardinals - Their defense will eat our crappy offense alive @ Lions - If it means something, its a possible win. Lions will have quit the season already 2-4 maybe? 3-3 if you give them Arizona or Minnesota at home
  10. He's the only coach on the Bears staff that I wouldn't immediately expect to get a canned response from.
  11. Bears with 20 rushing plays and 11 pass attempts (15 drop backs w/sacks). Keep in mind that the Bears have trailed every single time they've had the ball and were down double digits by their 2nd possession.
  12. How often does one team score more points than the other team has total yards in a half a game
  13. You either run it up the middle or start throwing at least 15 yards down field to the sidelines. You don't throw it 7 yards in the center of the field
  14. I give him a slight nod over Bob Avellini Dude has only been able to get off 6 pass attempts and has been sacked 4 times. Not that Campbell has been anything close to adequate but I can't call him worst ever when the dude has absolutely no time to throw.
  15. That was probably the Bears highlight of the half. Podlesh actually has a good punt
  16. Haha, nice throw Campbell
  17. Waiting for the QB to actually have enough time to complete a pass
  18. Down to 13 total yards in the half. We were at 22 at one point.
  19. Total yards: 49ers - 232 Bears - 17 Edit: make that 16
  20. The Bengals game in 2009 is the closest I can remember. The Bears didn't get a defensive stop until midway through the 4th quarter in that one. That game was TD, TD, TD, TD, FG (because the half ran out), TD, TD, then turnover on downs even though the Bengals were at the 28 yard line. And that was it
  21. They really need to pull Major Wright out of this game for awhile. He's been awful, and that missed tackle is inexcusable.
  22. Make that 13 first downs
  23. lol 49ers with 12 first downs already
  24. Total Yards: 49ers - 207 Bears - 22 Kapernicks QB rating is all the way down to 149.1
