  1. Yeah the last 4 at large teams are selected and then sometimes bumped up or down a seed based on whatever rules the committee has for bracketing. Edit: Ole Miss, Oregon and Akron were all automatic qualifiers, Cal I read was an 11 seed on the curve but got bumped to a 12 for some reason or another....so the last 4 at large teams could have been seeded 13, 13, then St Marys and the team they beat that I've now forgotten were higher than the automatic qualifiers in the seed list
  2. Is there anything more annoying in college basketball (other than Tom Crean) than a team timeout when a TV timeout is overdue, followed by a quick foul and then the TV timeout?
  3. I think it's funny his name is Madut Bol. And he's only 6'9
  4. They did this last year and I tracked it, so I'm gonna do it again. So far only 300-500 have been announced Link: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9043879/ranking-top-500-major-league-baseball-players-2013-nos-401-500 61. Starlin Castro (88 last year) 113. 5. And that was a blowout that happened to look relatively close at the end.
  6. Is this stupid of me to say? I am not sure I like how they/ve staggered these games out more the last couple of years. I kind of liked when there were 4 sessions per day with 4 games per session all starting within 10 minutes of each other. It was fun when 2-3 games were all close and all ending within minutes of each other. Sure once in awhile you missed the ending to a close game because you were watching another one, but it kind of fed into that whole chaotic first round of march madness vibe that everyone loves. Now the games are staggered so theres like 20+ minutes in between games ending, leaving there little chance that 2 games will come down to the wire at the same time. In theory this is good, but when there are 3 games ending around the same time, there are better odds of one or more of them coming down to the wire. The way its set up now, if a game is a blowout, its a long wait in between exciting end of game moments.
  7. Every game so far was decided by double digits or currently has a team leading by double digits except Marquette-Davidson which just started.
  8. Yeah this one is going to sting. We blew 3rd period leads with under 10 mins left in both losses to these bozos.
  9. Anaheim plays twice before we play again. We could be in 2nd place in the conference the next time we take the ice.
  10. [expletive] terrible defensive lapses. Now were 4 mins from being 3 points ahead of Anaheim and them with a game in hand. Pathetic collapse there.
  11. thanks for ruining my night by notifying me of that. The tournament can have your weekend. You have redeemed yourself.
  12. thanks for ruining my night by notifying me of that.
  13. I dunno that Calgary game was pretty bad
  14. Wow so it's over. Good bye Urlacher. Lots of good memories. 80% of Bears fans are going to have to buy a new jersey at least until he retires and its fashionable to wear Urlacher again
  15. Heard a Trestman interview on the Score today. Doesn't seem to be particularly excited about Urlacher returning. Said he could still be a useful player for the bears "on first and second down". Also said Hester is a full time return man and will be practicing very little with the WRs this year
  16. Right...DePaul (back when they werent an embarassment to major college basketball) played an NIT game on campus when Allstate Arena couldn't host the game. Are you sure? I remember Creighton playing an NIT game in 2008, two nights before they hosted first and second round NCAA games. I think I read somewhere that it was a staffing issue that forced the game to be played on the road. They couldn't get enough staff to work the game, convert the arena, and then host 4 days worth of games with only 1 days notice.

  18. The Blue Line is slow because it has a crap load of "slow zones" that are still in place even after track improvements.
  19. The game was in San Francisco and Hanley was booed because he's on the Dodgers. Pie in my face
  20. I'm shocked the Marlins have a vocal group of fans that actually care enough to attend an international tournament and boo a former star.
  21. Yay another win. Anaheim is looking like they are going to win tonight as well. Can't wait for the showdown on Wednesday.
  22. This feels vaguely familiar...
  23. I'm actually stunned when Kane doesn't score on a breakaway
  24. As someone who once tried to take public transit to a DePaul game, I agree public transportation to the game would be terrible. It would be a lot easier for driving to the game though.
