  1. I think the only thing that's holding it up is the commissioners approval (because more than $1 mil changed hands) and a signed document that says Soriano waived his 10/5. It's very unlikely the commissioner rejects it so its pretty much a formality at this point and even Theo/Jeds trend for having seemingly complete deals improbably fall through can't derail this.
  2. The ESPN article said he took batting practice and is in uniform. I presume he'll be on the bench.
  3. Yeah wasn't a big fan of soriano but came around on him last couple of seasons. Will miss his month long tears 1-2 times a year and his interactions with the fans in LF. will remember him for things like his inexplicable run of throwing out runners at home in 2007, his extra innings grand slam against the Astros putting us temporarily in 1st in 2009, that one series against the Braves in either 07 or 08 where he hit like 10 HRs. I will also remember his failings in the playoffs, that dropped routine fly ball that lost a game in Pittsburgh, and the eternal image of him helplessly flailing at a breaking ball.
  4. Q agreed to an extension per ESPN 1000
  5. Hmm didn't realize the new rule where the 2013 and 2015 Gold Cup champions will play for a spot in the 2017 Confed Cup. Gives me something additional to cheer for on Sunday. Good rule change.
  6. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-soriano-accepting-of-a-possible-trade-20130724,0,2636040.story you know he already approved it right Whoops I do now!
  7. If Soriano is traded, that would leave Shark as the only current Cub to play in a playoff game with the team, and him and Gregg would be the only Cubs to play for a +500 Cubs team.

  10. Science. If Sosa never took steroids how many homers do you think he would have ended up with? 927 little known fact: it was the corked bats that limited Sosa to 609 home runs http://forum.goazcats.com/showthread.php?t=69089
  11. Derrick Rose's first regular season game back (maybe? hopefully?) will be in Miami against the Heat as they raise their banner.
  12. Yeah I was gonna say I know I've used water fountains at wrigley before to fill up water bottles. Look near the bathrooms.
  13. God what a dumb poll. Why isn't there an "All of the above" option?
  14. slightly stagnant? I'd go with mostly
  15. Hilarious. I didnt think there was much chance of Tunney losing his position because of this until the last few days. Dude is losing it.
  16. article about the absurdity of the 2001 baseball season. http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2013/07/a_statistical_look_back_at_the.php
  17. 0.5 WAR in 5 games.
  18. agreed. also since im waiting to buy tickets, there are plenty of seats now, but I feel like they will sell out quickly if mexico wins.
  19. Just reminds me that soon its going to be the 10 year anniversary of the Cubs last playoff win (Oct 11)
  20. That's odd, its still fairly early in the season. Are the Giants really not going back east the rest of the season? I'm surprised the Reds were ok with this. It is not fairly early in the season. Early enough in the season that it's odd that a team is forced to play a home game at the opponents park, especially when that team is in the division/wild card race.

  22. Awesome that we chose the exact same picture.
  23. Do you realize how that Puig was at like 2 WAR in the month that led to that campaigning? It wasn't undeserved. The point is that it was a month. Guys don't get voted to the All Star game for a great April, which is essentially what would have happened had Puig been voted in. It would have been dumb. I wouldn't have cared and didn't even watch the game, but it would have been dumb. Some do. http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/001/114/934/115604976_crop_650x440.jpg?1311230070 http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Bryan+Lahair+Chicago+Cubs+Photo+Day+JJCgero64gLl.jpg
  24. wtf is this even attempting to mean? Love me some SCS incoherent posting
  25. It's too bad Lake couldn't have come up a month sooner so he could get get strong All Star consideration after less than 100 PAs.
