  1. who the hell cares if we rehash the 2003 playoffs? While Games 6 and 7 sting i have more happy memories of that season than sad ones so it doesn't bother me to discuss and read about it.
  2. Junior in college still living in NH. I wanted to take off work that night at the local Kinko's (yes it was still Kinko's at the time) but since it was my 2nd week I didn't want to give a bad impression. So I worked until the 5th or 6th inning, it was still 1-0 Cubs. While driving home, I managed to catch a grainy feed of WGN's call of the game (amazingly I could pick it up quite often at night despite being 1000 miles away) and heard something that sounded like 2-0 Cubs. At that point it just felt like a year of destiny so I stupidly settled into 'Cubs are in the World Series' mode. Got home in time to see the passed ball that led to a 3-0 lead. The first full inning I saw was the 8th of course. So it's probably my fault. After the 8th I glumly took a drive (after 4-5 beers, whoops I was dumb those days). Then managed to talk myself into game 7 somehow...my friend who is a Red Sox fan said something about the Fisk home run in 1975 and how the Sox still lost game 7 and that got me thinking optimistically again. I'm older now, slightly less passionate about sports (in terms of it being much less life or death), but that [expletive] [expletive] still stings.
  3. What drama? The fact that he missed a preseason game? yeah theres been people on other outlets in a mini-panic. personally, it causes me to raise an eyebrow but any sort of legit anxiety over the situation at this point is stupid.
  4. On what tiebreak? 3-3 Tennessee vs 3-3 Baltimore? You are right in singling out the Chiefs Tennessee game and Denver's Baltimore game. It would come down to the combined ranking of points scored and points allowed tiebreaker. Baltimore is 14th in points scored and 16th in points allowed (total score of 30 just for comparison purposes). Tennessee is 15th in points scored and 10th in points allowed (total score of 25). So the team that played Tennessee would win the tiebreaker, which is KC. That's 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
  5. So Mexico is up 3 points, up by 2 goals in GD, and down 2 in GA. If Mexico loses and Panama wins for some reason, Mexico is out unless Mexico loses by only 1 and Panama wins by 1 AND mexico scores 2 more goals than Panama does. So it would have to be something like a 4-3 Mexico loss and a 1-0 Panama win for Mexico to advance to the playoff. And that is because Mexico and Panama would tie in points, Goal Differential, Goals scored, and Mexico would lead in points scored in H2H matchup 4-1. I think this is correct.
  6. I actually don't think they hate him. They've said some nice things about him at times. I think they are more like a Simmons ombudsman
  7. I am not sure but I saw somewhere that it's only the second time that two teams from the same division have started 6-0 since Divisional play stated in 1933. Also the Chiefs are the first team since the 1956 Lions to start 6-0 after having the league's worst record the previous year.
  8. Yeah seriously. How many times do we see teams completely botch the spike and waste so much time, especially the Bears? The Pats took like 6 seconds max to snap that ball.
  9. Not a Pats fan but holy [expletive] was that drive perfectly executed. That could not have been better done. Perfectly led by Brady.
  10. What's with all the crowd shots? I get it the Sawx fans are facking sad their team might get no hit in game 1 of the ALCS
  11. And yet the refs never added phantom seconds to the game clock at the end of regulation #neverforget Watch this be Michigans only loss this year.
  12. I should be angrier but whatever. Like 35 things had to go Penn States way to win that.
  13. So Michigan had a 10 point lead with 10 mins left, a 7 point lead with 50 seconds left and 80 yards for PSU to go, then missed 3 game winning FGs. Ugh
  14. Heroin to forehead
  15. That's Adrian Peterson jr., not the kid that died. I doubt AD gives too much of a [expletive] about this whole ordeal. He gave enough of a [expletive] to miss practice and fly to South Dakota
  16. So Mexico can only now tie for 3rd place right? And with only 4 goals scored they are pretty much eliminated.
  17. I swear, ever since the miracle injury free year of 2010 we've gotten some shitty injuries.
  18. What in the [expletive] [expletive]??? http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/77927/yo-matt-forte-look-behind-you
  19. pretty much everyone is hoping he is hurt. Then again he did this type of [expletive] in Carolina where he disappeared for weeks only to emerge. As he gets older, that possibility is less likely.
  20. Come on Peppers, jeez.
  21. So Melton, Collins and DJ Williams all potentially out for the season. Tillman, Paea and Anderson banged up. Am I missing anyone else?
  22. Now they are saying that its not Adrian Peterson Jr, but another son of Peterson's that was previously unknown (to the public). That child is not expected to survive and will likely be taken off life support tonight. Really really sad.
  23. Yeah that one was bad. The thing that killed me in that game was when the Bears were at the 1 yard line, Cutler jumped over the pile and extended the ball just over the goal line before being stripped and losing the fumble. Inexplicably Lovie didn't challenge despite it clearly crossing the line before the fumble. I think he had an idiotic low reward challenge in the game that really magnified his challenging ability. Edit: Oh yeah that's what it was. The play before the goal line fumble was a 48 yard pass to Earl Bennett. He was tackled at the 1, but as he was tackled he kind of bobbled the ball and then covered it as he was laying across the goal line. He was ruled down by contact at the 1 and no fumble, but Lovie challenged that he fumbled it before being down even though it was pretty clear he was down. He lost that challenge and then after Jay's fumble, he didn't use a challenge even though he had one left. So in one situation he challenged a situation that best case is a TD, worst case is 1st and goal from the 1 and at best the replay was inconclusive. On the very next play he decides not to challenge a play where the best case is a TD, and the worst case is a turnover, despite a fairly conclusive replay.
