Yeah, between this thread and the Deadspin comments, I had my share of laughs yesterday. It's not that I'm against the concept of introducing a mascot, I think its the combo of a quiet and depressing offseason and such an easy to mock first image of the mascot.
Yeah but in his only public interview since the injury he said he wouldnt rule out playing in the playoffs if he's healthy and feeling good. I highly doubt that he would make the effort now post-Deng trade.
The time savings are pretty overblown. You probably save an hour or longer layover, plus a 3 or 4 hour flight. It'd be pretty damn important to me. Especially when a flight from LA to Japan is 10-12 hours as well. Can't you fly pretty much anywhere from Chicago to Japan direct? Just to Tokyo
Yeah there's a whole laundry list. Missed tackles, players not understanding the play call, terrible routes to ball carriers, absence of pass rush, blown coverages, missed assignments. Knowing is half the battle right?
The book "Entangled in Ivy" is a decent book, but IIRC (its been 4-5 years since I've read it) it does a pretty good job of explaining the Maddux/Cubs situation in 92.
