  1. I take it you probably hate soccer; what if the Chicago soccer team was the only good team in town? That's what it's like when the Blackhawks are good. there were years when the fire were the best team in Chicago (1999-2000) and no one gave a [expletive]. When the Blackhawks won the Cup 2 million people showed up to celebrate.
  2. Please don't be dumb and take anything from what Boras says. There is an agenda behind everything he says.
  3. Throwing a ton of money at Peppers isn't necessarily a shrewd move or anything. Gould they got lucky with, I don't think it had anything to do with Angelo being a great evaluator of kicking talent. Especially because they had to sign him off the scrap heap because the kicker they started the year with was finished. Best move would probably either be Cutler or the 2003 draft, although drafting Hester was a lesser move that paid dividends for several years.
  4. Well that would make week 17 much easier I would think...although a rusty Aaron Rodgers playing in frigid conditions might not be the worst thing ever.
  5. I get the desire to list everything they've Fd up but, the radio booth? I honestly hope your hope never comes true because that is going to lead to a good decade or more of continued crappiness. You say that like everything's not on that path already. If they basically do nothing this offseason, the Wrigley renovation won't be complete until the 2018 season (if they are able to start next year). If the team isn't any good at that point, the whole thing will be a failure anyway. The absolute worst case scenario is that the farm system doesn't turn out quite as good as we all hope, they STILL don't spend money, and the stadium renovations is that they don't start until 2022 when that stupid rooftop contract expires, potentially ending the worst decade in a terrible franchise's history. Awesome. I can't even imagine how apathetic the fan base would be if the team was still bad in 2018. I don't know how Pirates fans did it for 20 years. Actually I guess they didn't they all found other ways to occupy their summers until the team showed a pulse again.
  6. Looks like Trestman's adamant "the good news is that [briggs] will play again this year" statement after the Washington game might not come true.
  7. Bulls are now 0-2 against the last place teams in the East and West
  8. Heinrich? C'mon its been a decade :)
  9. Pro-tankers have to love that especially while playing the Bucks. I'm not necessarily pro-tank but this is a reason why I think we need to dismantle the team by trading away Noah, Deng and amnestying Boozer after the year. How many times every year do we have games where 3-4 starters are out? I love Noah and Deng but by now it's pretty much a given that they are going to be injured or banged up a significant portion of he season.
  10. Where are the Tweets that look this way? These were the first 2 tweets I saw when I searched for 'The Jay Cutler Show"
  11. Has anyone been listening to Waddle and Silvy this afternoon? From Twitter it looks as though they've been ripping on Cutler or at least taking McCown in the debate. And now the interesting thing...yesterday they were promoting the Jay Cutler Show as if Jay was going to be on it today, but apparently now BMarsh is going to be on the show.
  12. With so many young stud receivers emerging this year, I'd be interested to see how people would rank the top 5-10 WRs currently in the game.
  13. You also have to remember that Cutler started most of his games during the first few games of A) a new head coach, B) a new offensive coordinator, coaching staff and scheme, and C) a completely rebuilt offensive line with 4 new players, 2 rookies starting McCown has also had to play under these conditions but after 7 games of acclimation.
  14. Interesting. There's some good games they are skipping over, but I'm guessing they want a game that's more likely to effect both teams chances of making the playoffs. It seems almost certain that either Eagles-Cowboys or Bears-Packers will be flexed in Week 17 so one of these 2 teams will get 2 SNF games in a row.
  15. Looking at Bears individual statistical performances and their ranking in the NFL: Cutler/McCown: 64.7 completion percentage (would be 7th in the NFL) 3,715 yards (would be 6th in the NFL) 26 TD (would be T-5th in the NFL) 9 INT 98.3 Rating (would be T-8th in the NFL) Total QBR: McCown - 85.7 (1st), Cutler 63.2 (10th). McCown's Total QBR is the 4th best of any qualified QB in the 8 years ESPN has tracked it. Only 2006 Manning, 2007 Brady and 2011 Rodgers had higher ones. Projections over a full 16 game season: 4,556 yards, 32 TD, 11 INT Forte: 1,073 yards (4th in NFL) 4.6 YPC (T-8th among RBs with at least 90 carries) 7 TD (T-6th in NFL) 58 rushing 1st downs (3rd in NFL) Projections over a full 16 game season: 1,321 yards, 80 catches, 638 yards receiving, 11 total TDs (9 rushing, 2 passing) Marshall: 84 catches (4th in NFL) 1,090 yards (8th in NFL) 9 TDs (9th in NFL) Projections over 16 game season: 103 catches, 1,342 yards, 11 TD Jeffery: 75 catches (T-7th in NFL) 1,193 yards (5th in NFL) 6 TD (T-22nd in NFL) Projections: 92 catches, 1,468 yards, 7 TD
  16. They said he is probably going to be taking a job in the Padres front office
  17. I...umm...what? http://deadspin.com/heres-josh-mccown-telling-a-really-weird-story-in-an-a-1480336919
  18. The Bears had the 24th best offensive DVOA last year, 30th in 2011, 28th in 2010, 28th in 2009. Even with bad pieces, that doesn't strike me as doing an elite job with a bad offense.
  19. I'm about 6 months older than Kerry Wood. His retirement made me sad. I'm starting to think that I'm not going to be a major league baseball player :(
  20. Somewhat plausible way the Jags can still make the playoffs: Jags win last 3 games and.... Week 15 Denver* beats San Diego Kansas City beats Oakland* Chicago beats Cleveland* Carolina* beats NY Jets New England beats Miami* Arizona beats Tennessee* Cincinnati beats Pittsburgh* Detroit* beats Baltimore. Week 16 Buffalo* beats Miami Cleveland beats NY Jets* Green Bay* beats Pittsburgh Oakland beats San Diego* New England beats Baltimore* Week 17 Cincinnati* beats Baltimore NY Jets beat Miami* Almost all of those scenarios seem possible except maybe Oakland winning in SD and the Jets winning in Miami, but of course this is the NFL and its always unpredictable.
  21. Bears are now 2nd in the NFL in points scored (28.3 PPG) and 7th in total yards. But according to a Dallas writer:
  22. Browns currently favored by 2.5 points.
  23. It's going to be a really big decision next week if Cutler is cleared to play No its not. If Cutler is healthy he will play without question. I would imagine, but the decision is still really important. You can't throw away a half with this defense waiting to see if Cutler can perform. How'd that go the other time they brought back Cutler after he was cleared by the doctors to play but couldn't make all the throws, couldn't escape, and had to dial back the playbook? he looked fine until he suffered the ankle injury
