  1. What? I don't see anything but a stock answer there. Pretty standard stuff. I guess you could interpret that statement as Urlacher not believing Cutler is a franchise QB Yeah the guys on the score were talking as if they were passive-aggressive shots. I don't think Urlacher necessarily believes Cutler is a bad QB, I think he just doesn't like Cutler as a person.
  2. I heard on the Score yesterday that in order to get a stay, the rooftops would have to pay some sort of fee plus be liable for the amount of revenue lost by not having the ad up if they were to lose the case. So if the lawsuit drags on for most of the baseball season and they rule in the Cubs favor, the rooftops would have to pay the Cubs millions.
  3. Kyle Long is awesome: http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/1-26-2014/fX8bpM.gif
  4. And a loss. Hopefully going on the road wakes this team up. 1 point in the last 3 games against mediocre Detroit, mediocre Minnesota, and shitty Winnipeg.
  5. Come the heck on hawks. Can't lose to the jets in regulation at home. Especially when your next home game comes in March. Hawks dominate the game and are trailing now with7 mins to go
  6. This is so weird to watch seeing the grass in the background.
  7. It happens. Charlotte is still a top 100 RPI team (barely - 99). It was the third day of a neutral site tournament, Michigan had a tough OT win over Florida State the day before, and Glenn Robinson missed most of the game with an injury. Certainly one UM would like back but it happens.
  8. Good stuff. Hadn't beaten a top 5 team on the road in 30+ years. Now they do it two weekends in a row, with a home win against another top 10 team in between.
  9. GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN Crane Kenney became President 8 [expletive] years after the rooftop deal was made. No groans! Everything I can find credits Kenney with negotiating the 2004 agreement and that makes sense since he would have been general council of the trib at that time. It was 2002 wasnt it? I can swear I remember reading that he was the one that did a lot of the work in putting that deal together. Now I don't know how much of it was the Trib telling him to get a deal done and how much of it was his grand idea.
  10. Oh man. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to find this: http://www.stlcardinalbaseball.com/la-russa-taints-a-legacy-in-the-interest-of-fairness
  11. I think that a buyout of their contract is the most logical. I'm surprised that hasn't been seriously discussed at all.
  12. For anyone that cares, Forte, Jeffery and Marshall will be playing on the same team in the Pro Bowl. Long and Jennings will be on the other team. I have no idea which team.
  13. In what seems like a huge upset to me, Maddux is going into the HOF with no logo on his cap. That's gotta be a win for Cubs fans right? http://baseballhall.org/news/press-releases/cap-selections-announced-hall-fame-plaques-class-2014-inductees As we know, the HOF can force a cap selection on a player, but ultimately the player gets to make their choice unless the HOF significantly disagrees with them. So either Maddux chose against going in with a Braves logo and the HOF upheld his decision, or Maddux chose a Braves logo and the HOF overruled him and gave him no logo. I'm guessing the former. Edit: Dammit, beaten because I decided to make a long winded reply.
  14. Did anyone else hear that on the radio yesterday? Was a station or program specified? Assuming it would have been on ESPN 1000 given Olney works for them, or maybe it was said on ESPN TV. It was in an article by that Loxas dude. I heard it, too. You can listen to it on the ESPN 1000 daily podcast for yesterday (Wednesday 1/22). Olney spoke in vague, broad terms, but said that he's heard from other owners around MLB that the Cubs' ownership has been "surprised" by how much more difficult and expensive taking over the Cubs has been and how much the Cubs' ownership underestimated all of the money they'd have to put into various "expenses" and how much of a pain in the arse the rooftop situation would be with respect to the renovations. Not incredibly profound, nor is it particularly surprising. It would also be consistent with Theo and Jed not being fully aware of all the financial limitations they'd have; put simply, it's possible that the Ricketts weren't aware, either. Thanks. Which is weird because the MLB supposedly goes through such a vigorous process of scrubbing the candidates to make sure they are worthy of owning a team.

  17. I'm sure Gordon was eager to confirm that report. More negativity from Gordon:
  18. I think Detroit is only 2-6 in SOs now. I hated the SO long before this though I loathe it. When we win a shootout I probably feel about 75% as good as when we win in regulation/OT. That should mean I feel less bad when we lose it but I think I feel worse.
  19. Wow Big Ten teams really like going undefeated for half the year and then go on long losing streaks don't they?
  20. 12 OT/SO losses. Again, not something to worry about long term, but damn annoying anyways. 9-0-2 in our last 11 at the Joe (regular season)
  21. Terrible, we have shitty luck in SOs. We had 6 chances where a score or a save would have won it and failed all 6 times.
  22. With due respect, I don't think Gammons has known anything for a long while now. I put literally no stock in anything he says at this point. Meh, he still has his head up Theo's ass from his Boston days. I wouldn't be surprised if his sources are legit.
