  1. Eagles can clinch the NFC East with a win over the Bears and a Cowboys loss in Washington
  2. So Rodgers vs. Cutler Week 17. Bears playoff odds have gone down about 10%. I think next week is an absolute must win now. Of course I'm probably being dramatic.
  3. Wow Romo is truly a choke artist
  4. Cowboys defense: making backup QBs look like pro bowlers Should the Packers start Flynn when Rodgers is healthy?
  5. Holy [expletive], this is a terrible collapse. Typical Cowboys.
  6. With the Panthers 3 minutes away from winning, I believe the Bears will be officially eliminated from Wild Card consideration, as the Saints/Panthers and 49ers will all be 10-4, meaning if they lost out and the Bears won out they would all tie at 10-6 with the Bears having the worst conference record among them (not to mention a H2H loss to the Saints). In other "insanely improbable/who the hell is actually thinking about this?" news, the Panthers win eliminates the Bears from any chance of getting a bye.
  7. This is not an attack on you personally nor does it mean anything in the long term, but I find it funny reading these discussions as Drew Brees is having maybe the worst game in his career.
  8. One more note about the Eagles/Cowboys. If the Cowboys finish off GB today but lose in Washington next Sunday, the Eagles/Bears game is essentially meaningless for the Eagles chances of making the playoffs. Regardless of whether they beat the Bears or not, Week 17's Cowboys/Eagles game will decide the NFC East. However there would be seeding implications with the NFC North winner so I guess there is some incentive for Philly to win.
  9. 5-1 as a game thread starter this year, I'm keeping this going. As I mentioned in the other thread, at the time I'm writing this post (Sunday afternoon), this game could have completely different implications when the Bears kick off depending on how the Lions do in the 2 games they play before this one. Right now: Bears 8-6 Lions 7-6 If the Lions lose twice: With a win the Bears clinch the NFC North. With a loss the Bears still control their own destiny going into week 17 against GB. If the Lions go 1-1: With a win the Bears control their own destiny going into week 17, with a loss the Bears will need a win and Lions loss in week 17 to make the playoffs If the Lions win twice: With a win the Bears are still alive going into week 17, with a loss the Lions win the NFC North and the Bears are eliminated. Eagles might be in a similar desperate frame of mind. With the Cowboys well on their way to winning today, Dallas and Philly will be tied going into week 16. If the Cowboys win next Sunday, the Eagles could also be playing for their playoff lives, as the Cowboys have clinched the tiebreaker over Philly regardless of their game in week 17. So yeah huge game for both teams.
  10. Boy the Packers suck. If the Lions win tomorow (which we don't want of course but for the sake of discussion), the Packers will be 6-7-1 behind 2 8-6 teams, meaning the only way they make the playoffs is winning next week, the Lions losing out, the Bears losing next week setting up a 'winner goes to the playoffs' game at Soldier Field in week 17.
  11. I love him because he's extremely talented, and while I'll admit he's not the greatest QB ever and has his issues, at his best he's among the best QBs in the league, a tough SOB and makes throws that I used to have wet dreams about in grade school. But I think really won me over was his personality (which admittedly has little to do with whether he should be the QB). Part because the media has decided that Jay Cutler is an aloof jackass who doesn't care about anything, and hey that's our dude, stfu. Also because his appearances on the Jay Cutler radio show prove that he's actually a pretty cool dude.
  12. So with the Lions playing twice before the next Bears game, there is a wide range of scenarios the Bears could be playing with when they step on the field: If the Lions win twice, the Bears will need to win to stay alive going into week 17 If the Lions lose twice, the Bears can clinch the NFC North with a win against Philly (sorry, the Packers will need to lose or tie once as well and they are currently losing to Dallas) If the Lions split their games, the Bears will need to win to control their own destiny heading into week 17
  13. Wait, wait, wait...THE DEFENSE? That is hysterical. Who the [expletive] are they to gripe about who is starting with how horrendous they've been? The offense has worked with Cutler or McCown, yet they're bitching like they're not doing dumb [expletive] like giving up the TD at the end of today's game or getting gashed by nearly ever run game out there? I think the funniest thing is that the defense hasn't been intercepting McCown in practice and their players complaining about Cutler really highlights that fact.
  14. Sorry if it was posted before the game, I saw similar reports posted here but not this detailed:
  15. No that he was the guy he wanted starting. I could be reading it wrong but I expected him to basically say that there was never a question who would be starting at QB and his responses were more like "this was the plan we made a month ago"
  16. Gotta say Trestman doesn't seem like he was 100% certain on Cutler. I expected more definite words. Also interesting to me is he was talking about what a tough week Jay had and how the team rallied around him, and how they discussed Jay as QB as a team to make everyone was on the same page.
  17. He's a second half QB. A guy who wins it in the 4th. I can't stress enough that this is the meatball angle we have to play up if we ever hope to make the meatballs of Chicago love him like we do. Haha thats awesome. We need to organize some sort of meatball propaganda campaign where we change the minds of the populous with the only types of backwards arguments they understand. Another argument to call into talk radio with this week: McCown didn't do anything against the Cowboys, we won because it was Bear weather
  18. The ones he was sailing were all similar throws and had/have me a little worried. Hopefully just rust. Didn't see it later in the game. It was just rust. They also mentioned that the wind shifted during halftime and it was more favorable passing conditions in the 2nd half.
  19. Briggs better be back next week.
  20. Bears go 4-0 against the AFC North.
  21. they technically have it now :)
  22. So 83 points the last 2 weeks for the Bears (76 offensively)
  23. predicted headline for this game in Chicago media: Cutler breaks 300 yard game streak as Bears D gets key TD in win
  24. What a game full of momentum swings. Conte drops the INT, Browns score 14 unanswered points Jeffery turns into a wizard, Bears score 21 unanswered points
