  1. idiotic if true
  2. If they continue to win 1 of every 5 it could be. They are only 1.5 games out of the bottom 3. Yeah at this point I could easily see it happening. When we are consistently outclassed by terrible teams at home and then basically toyed with against good teams on the road, its hard to imagine many victories. To add to that the injury prone core is just about hitting their maximum injury potential with Butler, Deng, Hinrich and Rose all banged up (I'm sure Noah is playing with some sort of injury as well - he always is).
  3. On a recent Simmons podcast, his guest (Cousin Sal Iacono) said the NFL had phased them out, but I have no idea why. It flies in the face of the NFL's mission to run every single day of the sports year. I've read that the Saturday games were not good for ratings so they got phased out. I would guess that NFL games got ratings no matter when they are played, especially when there are 9-11 games being played at noon on Sunday.
  4. I don't think we'll hear anything definite until tomorrow
  5. I'm still not sure how many snaps we can even expect Briggs to play after not playing for over 2 months. Maybe half the snaps? Philly's offense is obviously very fast paced and will leave little time for a possibly under conditioned athlete to rest.
  6. Yeah, I think the most likely scenario is that the Eagles have nothing to play for and the Bears do. I am assuming the Cowboys will manage to beat the Redskins, and I think the Lions will beat the Giants and Packers beat the Steelers, meaning the Bears would need to beat Philly to continue to control their own destiny in Week 17.
  7. Bring back Saturday games dammit. We don't need 9 games on Sunday at noon. And next week I think there's going to be 11 because there's no Thursday or Monday games.
  8. Good point about the tie. However unlikely that is, I think that plus the obvious seeding implications with the Eagles, would give Trestman enough motivation to play to win this weekend
  9. Not sure if he said anything on the show but he did practice today but was limited. Conditioning is obviously the concern because he hasnt played in over 2 months and is playing an extremely uptempo offense. Also this from Trestman: A Lions loss and Packers win would make the result of the Eagles game meaningless (except for potential seeding)
  10. Overall, though, I think they've been inflated by having 3 or 4 absolute beatdowns they've been on the wrong side of (Nashville, Colorado, Toronto). They didn't have many (any?) of those last year The Hawks only had 2 losses by more than 2 goals all season (playoffs included). Those were the first regulation loss of the season against Colorado (6-2) and Game 2 against Detroit (4-1)
  11. and for Bears The gist I got from that is that its more likely Flynn starts Sunday not Rodgers. Wouldnt he be taking first team reps if he was aiming to start? That's why he said it's great news for the Bears. I read that wrong, my bad. Lets hope the Packers lose and the Bears win this weekend so we don't have to worry about Rodgers at Soldier Field for a spot in the playoffs.

  13. [expletive] that's spot on. I'm not really anti-Derrick Rose or anything Bernstein addresses several issues that bother me. And I didn't realize the rift between BJ and Pax for some reason. I've been saying this for a couple years, but I think there's a pretty decent chance Derrick is gone in a couple of years, whether its because he leaves on his own, or never recovers fully from his injuries and is let go.
  14. From the strange but true file: The Bears are 0-5 when Alshon Jeffery has 100 yards receiving, 8-1 when he is held under 100 yards.
  15. Hawks finally have the best goal differential in hockey and are now 7 points clear of the Blues in their division (although the Blues somehow have 4 games in hand and could pass the Hawks in points if they went 4-0-0). The damn Ducks keep winning though so the Hawks are only 2 points up on them for most points in the league (and Ducks have a game in hand)
  16. Out of curiosity, a few years ago the prevailing thought seemed to be that relievers are inconsistent year to year and it wasn't the best use of resources on the FA market. Now it seems to be applauded. Was there a change in philosophy or was the Cubs bullpen so bad the last few years that this is now a prudent way to improve the club?
  17. Changing the subject....oof Alshon. http://deadspin.com/dan-patrick-soldiers-through-a-brutal-interview-with-al-1485019687
  18. I think there's a scenario where the Lions aren't eliminated but the Bears-Packers game has guaranteed implications Week 16: Bears lose Lions win Packers win Packers 8-6-1 Lions 8-7 Bears 8-7 Setting up the following scenario: Lions clinch with a win and Packers loss Bears clinch with a win and Lions loss Packers clinch with a win So even if the Lions win, it would be a guaranteed win or go home scenario for the Packers. So would NBC take that over a Cowboys-Eagles game where the winner goes to the playoffs and the loser goes home? It's unclear from that tidbit. I'd think they would go for the NFC East game, but who knows. I agree it's unlikely they chose Bengals-Ravens, but if there's a scenario where Bengals-Ravens can affect the following teams playoff chances in terms of seeding, byes and even making the playoffs: Colts, Patriots, Bengals, Ravens, Dolphins, they might opt for that to draw more viewers in.
  19. The only options I see right now are Eagles-Cowboys, Bears-Packers, and Bengals-Ravens. Again, NBC wants to pick a game that is guaranteed to have playoff implications, and not just seeding and byes, they are looking for games where one or more teams have to win to make the playoffs or else they go home.
  20. So this is interesting.....if the Bengals win at home against Minnesota this week, and the Ravens manage to beat New England at home this week, it sets up a situation where if the Bengals beat Baltimore in week 17, they clinch the playoffs, division, and a bye. If they lose to the Ravens, they miss the playoffs.
  21. Yep. Happened in 2009 when #4 seed Arizona (9-7) hosted #6 seed Philadelphia (9-6-1) in the NFC Championship game.
  22. I assume no shot at 2 seed with the other divisions having 10 win teams and our poor conference record... Yeah Bears were eliminated from that when Carolina won on Sunday. The 2 NFC South teams have 10 wins already, so the best the Bears could do is tie them, and the Bears are only 4-6 in the conference vs. 7-3 for SF and 8-2 for NO (which doesnt matter bc the Saints beat the Bears head to head). Also I'm not sure how the Bears would most likely be the 3 seed, they are in the 4 seed right now. Obviously if the Bears can beat Philly this weekend the odds greatly increase though. Lets just worry about making it.
  23. I think this is correct: Bears win Packers win Lions win or lose Then: Bears clinch with win, Packers clinch with win, Lions eliminated Bears win Packers lose Lions win Then: Bears clinch with win, Lions clinch with win and Bears loss, Packers eliminated Bears win Packers lose Lions lose Then: Bears clinch division, Packers and Lions eliminated Bears lose Packers win Lions win Then: Bears clinch with win and Lions loss, Lions clinch with win and Packers loss, Packers clinch with win Bears lose Packers lose Lions win Then: Bears clinch with win and Lions loss, Lions clinch with win, Packers clinch with win and Lions loss Bears lose Packers lose Lions lose Then: Bears clinch with win, Packers clinch with a win, Lions eliminated Bears lose Packers win Lions lose Then: Bears clinch with win, Packers clinch with win, Lions eliminated
