I'm assuming you are referring to the Rose retirement announcement? Yeah, it was really fun to watch a young Derrick Rose rise to superstardom. Since Jordan retired he's the only super-duper-star we've had on the Bulls. Butler came close and maybe got there after leaving Chicago but while here was not on that level of inner circle stars that the NBA markets the hell out of. Very sad that in 26 years since MJ we've one had 1 player of that caliber that the entire NBA pays attention to. So it was fun to be relevant until the injuries hit.
But yeah, I see a lot of Bulls fans over the last few years feeling nostalgic about Rose and rooting for him, but after the rape allegations I never really felt comfortable rooting for him. I think he was cleared or it settled out of court or whatever, but his comments about not understanding consent and when asked why Rose and his friends thought that they were coming to the woman's house for a gangbang said something like "We men. You can assume" really turned me off on him.
So great career...it was admirable that he was able to overcome the injuries that robbed him of his otherworldly athleticism and explosiveness to become a solid role player. But I'm not exactly rushing to retire his number or sign him to a 1 day contract or anything.
