I don't see whats wrong with that as long as he can replace the assistants when they inevitably leave. He build a strong culture and has an ultra aggressive mindset that the players seem to feed off of. We'll see how he does after Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn leave which seems like this offseason. BTW Ben Johnson declining to take a HC job last offseason in order to "finish the job" says a lot about the culture Campbell built, even if the HC options weren't ideal for him.

Yeah and Hamp and OB trashed him all season on their postgame shows, talking about his snap count and how much he was being paid. Also with the Bears not having a great pass rush I'm sure he was double and triple teamed a lot when he was on the field. Tough situation to be in.

Thanks..different from what I saw on my brief google search but I believe you, especially because no one said anything anywhere about this. Either way it worked out, but I was initially fretting about those 5 seconds when Caleb passed to the middle of the field. Looked like the 2 Packers who tackled DJ were trying to knock the ball away after he was down. If they did, there's a chance it would have taken too long to recover but he held on and quickly reset the ball. For a team that has repeatedly failed in these situations all year that was nice execution.

Can we discuss the offense? I've watched the last 2 Bengals games and Burrow is just slinging it all over the place to Chase, Higgins, etc. Then I watch the Bears and its just WR screens and short dump off throws until there's a 2 minute drill where suddenly Caleb finds WRs downfield. I am not sure why the gameplan with the WRs we have. I get that the line is terrible and under pressure and I get that we won the game today but we had like 280 yards of total offense and really nothing going most of the game. Obviously none of it matters because we'll have a new staff and hopefully a better designed offense but I just don't see how it helps Caleb develop to throw a bunch of screens all game. Feels like we didnt get to fully see what we have in him due to what he was asked to do.

Nah, here is the snap Then they ran a play that was a sideline throw to DJ that ended with :15 left but as soon as they snapped it they threw the flag for illegal shift. The next play was snapped with :15 left. I googled illegal shift and it says: Yes, an "illegal shift" is considered a pre-snap penalty in football, and the play clock does not move when it is called; the offensive team is simply penalized 5 yards and must re-set their formation"

At the end of the game the Bears snapped the ball with :20 left and got an illegal shift penalty called on them to lose 5 yards. But when the next play started there was 15 seconds left. Isn’t illegal shift a pre-Snap penalty thus no time should have gone off? I’m assuming I’m wrong because absolutely no one said anything.

So basically in 6 divisional games, Caleb led the Bears in game tying or game winning drives in 4 of them. -The blocked FG against GB -the last second TD and FG drive vs Minnesota to force OT -the Thanksgiving debacle against the Lions -the GW drive against GB

I don’t give 2 shits about draft position. We needed that so bad. The fan base, the team, everyone. We couldn’t end the season like that.

Every Bears Packers game contains 3-4 inexplicably jump ball catches that somehow fall into Packers hands

But they just got a TD on it! (Ignore the other 20 times they ran it today unsuccessfully)

Also Caleb has a lot to work on this offseason. He’s had a promising season but he needs to grow because currently he is subpar imo

This offense is so so bad. The play calling is atrocious, the execution is atrocious. None of this helps Caleb improve

As someone who has been fighting to ensure every team theoretically has a chance at winning a championship for years, I dont hate it. Here is how the first round matchups would work out if every FBS conference champ made it and seeding was based on CFP ranking with no advantages for conference champs (outside of making the field if you wouldn't otherwise make it). For teams that weren't ranked by the CFP, I based their seed on their SP+ ranking. Jacksonville State, ranked 72nd in SP+, was the lowest seed. 16 Jacksonville St (Sun Belt) at 1 Oregon (Big Ten) - Eugene, OR 15 Ohio (MAC) at 2 Georgia (SEC) - Athens, GA 14 Marshall (CUSA) at 3 Texas (At Large 1) - Austin, TX 13 Army (AAC) at 4 Penn State (At Large 2) - University Park, PA 12 Clemson (ACC) at 5 Notre Dame (At Large 3) - South Bend, IN 11 Arizona St (Big 12) at 6 Ohio State (At Large 4) - Columbus, OH 10 SMU (At Large 7) at 7 Tennessee (At Large 5) - Knoxville, TN 9 Boise St (MWC) at 8 Indiana (At Large 6) - Bloomington, IN I would then keep the QFs on campus. It doesn't really dilute the field as we're not adding any more mid at-large teams, we're basically giving the top team something to do to keep them busy before the quarterfinal round (and if one of those bottom 4 teams managed to upset a top seed - it would be a moment talked about forever)
