  1. Oh well we lose. Let's beat up on Bumgarner tomorrow. Sorry to SSR that his 80 game win streak will not be realized.
  2. No one should ever be able to wear glasses on a baseball field after Chuck McElroy perfected the look. It will just never be topped so no one should try.
  3. Like I said earlier today. If the Cubs play .500 ball the rest of the year, the Giants would have to go 27-10 AND the Dodgers would have to go 25-13 for the Cubs to not make the playoffs. So unless you are concerned that the Cubs are going to absolutely collapse or both the Giants and Dodgers are going to get ridiculously hot (don't forget the teams still have several games against each other so each one is a loss for one of them), it's not yet a concern
  4. I can't believe that as we stand here in late August 8 games ahead in the loss column to the closest wild card competitor, that there are people talking about the wild card with concern. I'm not saying that teams have never blown a 7.5 game lead over a 40 game span, just that it's not worth worrying about on a day to day basis until it gets a good bit closer
  5. Anyone know what Schwarbers splits were like in the minors? He's struck out in 52% of his 43 ABs against lefties in the majors (though he does have 2 HRs and some walks)
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] nah Ok I'll admit I forgot about that. But the DP, the K with a runner on third and the botched force out that scored a run also happened.
  7. one game at a time. Let's not pretend the Cubs can't beat good pitchers
  8. Damn this is going to be tough against a lefty
  9. Russell has not looked good tonight. His kid is likely ashamed of him
  10. its a timeless debate on pretty much every sports message board I've ever been on. I've been on both sides and I know from experience that when posters make irrationally ridiculous posts it's usually because they can't control their emotional response to events in a game
  11. This x100 There's a difference between expressing disappointment and being negatively irrational. For example statement like "absolutely had to score there" in a tied game in the 6th inning makes no sense and makes you look silly
  12. It would be quite amazing if the Cubs got out of this just down 2 at this point. Oh no so your saying they might...lose a baseball game?
  13. What kind of run would the Cubs have to go on before people stopped flipping out because the Cubs are trailing in the 6th inning of a game?
  14. Yeah and they are effing delicious. You'll taste them for about 4 days though. Oh man I really loved them when I went to AT&T Park. Can't say it was the best thing because the park is beautiful but it was up there
  15. Not sure but he definitely didn't have a play at 2nd
  16. I'm just surprised that the Cubs org is so against using Wada again. He was definitely better than what Hendricks and Haren have been lately.
  17. You are suggesting he challenge hitters with his 89 mph fastball?
  18. I feel a little bad, all their players keep going down
  19. Is Travis Wood warming up? Can we at least have Wada up next week as an option on the bench?
  20. Come on Hendricks, time to be good again
