  1. Why do the Cardinals still matter? The Pirates barely do Man if you were the U.S. hockey coach in 1980 your pregame speech would probably be "Guys you aren't going to win so don't even try"
  2. 3 more innings then Chapman
  3. I mean yeah but odd time to say it since he's actually kept us in the game today
  4. Come on offense, play baseball more successfully
  5. Well he fits right in I guess
  6. Schwarber is going to be a stud, but while he is looking awful and figuring things out, Id like to see him hit lower in the order.
  7. It's not that I've given up. It's that I don't care about getting home field nearly as much. I have this vision of the Cubs giving up a run in the first at Wrigley and the fans going into panic mode which is felt by the players who then get 2 hit in a loss and it screws up the entire core of players on this team to the point where they never accomplish anything. But I'm weird like that.
  8. Just heard on the score that Joey Votto has a .577 OBP since the All Star break

    Castro

Much smaller controversy: Jake playing the "you dont know you don't play the game" card. Somewhere Joe Morgan is smiling.

LMAO Jake told Jesse Rogers that he was supposed to be replying to a fan that said to him that the error should have been a hit. Was not directed at Castro. Jesse says that Jake and Castro have had a really good relationship, so he doesn't believe there's any way he was calling out Castro. Controversy over.

i was at the game and a bit inebriated, but didn't he have 3 errors or something? Yeah, 2 came in that 6 run inning. Both would have ended the inning and I believe both were on easy flips from Russell at 2B
  12. Cubs lineup is the same as their regular lineup, just sub Castro for Javy batting 7th and playing 2nd base Fowler 8 Schwarber7 Coghlan 9 Rizzo 3 Bryant 5 Montero 2 Baez 4 Haren 1 Russell 6

I'm guessing. Why else would Jake call out one of his teammates (assuming that's what's happening here)?

So umm...Jake Arrieta just tweeted this a minute ago: [tweet] [/tweet] I have a hard time believing that hes referring to anyone else but Starlin
  15. I know, right? Hendry would have got Joe Blanton and Johnny Gomes and only given up 3 of our top 10 prospects. I still curse Brendan Harris and Ray Sadler's names. you make a good point, Hendry really never traded any good prospects at the trade deadline changing subjects, who do you guys think will win AL MVP this year Just saying....you also could have gone with the AL Cy Young. Dallas Keuchel was a Cub? (kidding I know)
  16. There are 32 games left.... If the Cubs go... 10-22, the Giants would have to go at least 16-15 AND the Dodgers at least 12-20 to eliminate the Cubs 16-16, the Giants would have to go at least 22-9 AND the Dodgers at least 18-14 to eliminate the Cubs 18-14, the Giants would have to go at least 24-7 AND the Dodgers at least 20-12 to eliminate the Cubs 20-12, the Giants would have to go at least 26-5 AND the Dodgers at least 22-10 to eliminate the Cubs Remember, the Giants and Dodgers are guaranteed to have at least 5 more combined losses, making it even tougher.
  17. Lineup guess? I have a feeling he does something random and pushes Schwarber down tonight and goes with Fowler, CF Coghlan, RF Rizzo, 1B Bryant, 3B Montero, C Baez, 2B Schwarber, LF Haren, P Russell, SS Baez ahead of Schwarber only so that there aren't 4 lefties in a span of 5 batters
  18. Too many reasons I don't even know where to start. I still feel decent about Soler being really good though.
  19. Also what does Cahill bring to the table? Seems odd that they'd burn a 40 spot for him.
  20. When did Wada pitch last? Here's hoping he's available to eat innings after Haren goes 4 tomorrow since Wood and to a lesser extent Richard haven't pitched well lately.
  21. 5 of 6 What? Since the west coast trip, we've lost 5 out of 7. Yes but the first game of the west coast trip is included in the 21 of 25. Since then we've lost 5 games and won 1
  22. You don't have a spot for Javy or just taking a wait and see approach? I also think they might be holding a spot for Berry as their Dyson. Who do you take off for Javy or Berry? Do you really need a 3rd backup OF, especially with Coghlan also being able to play there? Javy will have to really hit his way on the team, unless Soler doesn't make it back. I really think Jackson makes Denorfia expendable. You'll have Jackson and Bryant capable of covering all three positions if needed, and then Coghlan too. I'm pulling for Baez as much as anyone, but I don't know if he'd be the type to contribute much in a situation where he'd be getting one at bat a game against, most likely, a top reliever. Barry on the other hand...I don't see how Denorfia, as the second or third RH option off the bench, offers more than he does The way Maddon has been talking Javy up and the way he's willing to put young players right in there for regular playing time, I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the lineup 3-4 times a week or more in September
