  1. It looks very unlikely we will be able to catch the Pirates and play the WC game at Wrigley...their final series is against the Reds. Can't see them losing 2 out of 3 to that team. I like the idea someone mentioned of how Cubs fans being able to watch the Cubs win that game on the screens at Wrigley might exorcise a bit of the terror they displayed constantly in 2007 and 2008. I think winning the Wild Card game, regardless of location or where it's being watched, will loosen the fans up. it will be like winning a playoff round, regardless of the fact that it's one game.
  2. One more out to tie 1989's win total and ensure we do not lose 70 games
  3. It's really [expletive] bizarre. Nobody was expecting anything much better than, "hey, maybe he won't embarrass himself now that he lost his fulltime job." Obviously he's out of his mind this month, but holy [expletive], if the middle ground between this and August is based on him making adjustments at the plate and something he can actually sustain...yikes. I think the middle ground would be last year's Castro, which was pretty damn good. Last year's Castro in this lineup is scary.
  4. Much better than previous season dilemmas like "Will it look super obvious we're trying to lose if we make Bryan LaHair our starting first baseman?"
  5. Who else should I reverse jinx? Boy, the search for a cure for cancer is in such a funk right now.
  6. Jesus Christ he is red hot. What a strange but ultimately satisfying season for Castro.
  7. the pirates aren't starting liriano Why not? It means David Ross and Schwarber, Coghlan, Montero sitting Well for one, because Cole is already on schedule to pitch that game, Liriano is not. But mostly because the Pirates aren't going to sit one of the 10 best pitchers in the NL in order to play matchup games.
  8. Well whether you thought the offense was in a funk or not, that's done with.
  9. Well they won't so I have no idea why you are even talking about that scenario.
  10. David Ross cannot catch up to any 90+ mph fastball anymore
  11. Man the Reds are the worst fielding team I've ever seen.
  12. I think it was 3rd worst but I could be wrong
  13. Man I leave the game for 10 mins to put an old mattress to the curb and I miss the best 10 mins of Castros career apparently
  14. i think you do get me. 75% of my posts are stream of consciousness with little value to the board. 30% of those posts are flat out wrong and quickly called out, another 20% are called out for whatever reason but probably shouldn't be, the rest are largely ignored. Once in awhile I'll actually post something funny, but that's been lacking lately.
  15. And now I umm emptively claim reverse jinx
  16. It's been a week bro It was the three game losing streak and then winning 1-0 in 11 against the Royals, homie. Game before the streak against a terrible pitcher and last nights game too. 4 runs is fine but not as a ceiling for the offense. Anyways it was an innocent comment with stats to back it up but I know how much people like to call out anything close to negative so meh, I guess I'm the worst. Oh and when the Cubs go on a huge outburst I preemptively claim reverse jinx
  17. Man I'm really hoping the offense gets it going before next week. We seem to be in a team wide funk.
  18. This will not be the last time Jon Lester starts this season.
  19. I believe in the 3 playoffs the Cubs have played since 2003, there has only been 1 pure day game (Game 5 against the Marlins), 1 late afternoon game (Game 4 against the Braves), and 2 very early evening games (Game 3 against the Diamondbacks and Game 1 against the Dodgers). The rest have been primetime or west coast primetime.
