  1. When something out of the ordinary happens, he breaks like MLB Gameday
  2. 13th best pitcher in baseball Last Year Lester? Good call. Just because Rondon Fan isn't here doesn't mean we need someone to take his place. Lester was fine at the end of the season and was good. He just had a bad start if you recall. If you just take off his first 4 starts he had a 2.99 ERA in his other 28 starts and opponents had a .228 BA/.642 OPS hitting against hi,
  3. Javy is the greatest. Eat your heart out Jorge
  4. so did len at first, then he briefly went into his HR call when it looked like Cutch was giving up.
  5. Load the bases with 0 outs, fall behind the next batter 3-1, and still manage to escape the inning with no runs allowed. Awesome.
  6. yep...probably would have had a 25% chance of scoring if they sent him
  7. Nice comeback from down 3-1. Now get a grounder to Russell or Javy
  8. Javy has definitely embraced "Respect 90" this year. Yesterday he nearly beat out 2 different routine grounders that had no business being close.
  9. Ps I hope they chance that Rizzo liner to a hit
  10. I'm listening on the radio and when Pat said "grounder back to Lester" I held my breath.
  11. I wonder how many games Dex has led off the game with getting on base. It seems like 75% of the games.
  12. The problem with comparing to American professional sports is: a) 3 of the 4 have a salary cap that limits how much a team can spend and b) all 4 leagues have things like revenue sharing and a talent acquisition process that disproportionately favor the worst teams acquiring the top incoming talent. I could be wrong but english football teams are independent from the leagues they are in and there is no collective bargaining or really any sort of guidelines that ensure that there is competitive balance. Yes they share TV money and probably share some sort of revenue, but its not nearly like US sports. Because of this there is such a disparity between the top teams that print money, and the rest of the league. Plus as pointed out, there are no playoffs where a plucky underdog or a team that beefs up midseason can get hot and win it. It's a balanced schedule of 36 teams that one team has to win. The system is almost set up in a way that ensures that something like LCFC doesn't happen.
  13. I hate it. I really wish there was just one Chicago baseball team. I don't mind having people from other cities hating us, but its annoying that 1/3 of my own city despises the success the Cubs are having.
  14. It's very early May and Pittsburgh weather sucks balls Yeah, school is not out yet, the weather has been bad and Pittsburgh has 1/4 of the population of Chicago to draw from.
  15. With the win last night, Jake will go an entire calendar year without taking a loss in a road game. Last road loss was May 7, 2015 against the Cardinals. The team is 17-1 in the last 18 road games Jake has started since that point. (ND in a loss @ STL on June 26, 2015 was the only loss. Jake gave up 1 run in 7 innings in that game) Also, the Cubs have not trailed at any point in Jake's last 10 regular season starts, and 14 of the last 15 (they were down 1-0 in a game against Philly last September 11th)
  16. http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/15458724/more-ped-busts-coming-major-league-baseball-soon Man, these types of reports make me nervous Please please please no Cubs
  17. Interesting read. I hope this is the Cubs working on his pitch selection and knowing what they are doing.
  18. They should focus on getting to .500 first
  19. This is the first time I've ever thought "Good thing Lester is starting so it guarantees Ross is in the lineup" Not that the other dude didn't have a good game last night, but we're talking about David freaking Ross here.
