Random good news: was looking at upcoming pitching probables and it looks like we will be missing Kershaw In the 4 game series next week vs LA at Wrigley

I don't really pay attention to who is playing what position so to me its always a surprise when I see the first ball hit to whatever position Bryant is playing that day. Crazy how versatile KB is, and it doesnt seem to be effecting his bat at all. How many 30 HR/.850 OPS guys shuffle around between 5 different field positions effortlessly (3B, LF, RF, 1B and CF last year)

[tweet] [/tweet] AKA, Soler was the Cubs 4th best hitter over a 2 week span where the offense was struggling for the majority of it. I'll take any positive news we can get about Jorge though. I want so hard to fully embrace him, he seems like a cool dude and he certainly loves smashing the Cardinals.

I've been mostly meh. Last nights loss didn't effect me at all. For some reason today got to me, but still have plenty of perspective.

How awesome are the Cubs? Lost 3 of their last 4 series and still 3 games ahead of the 2nd best record in the league. Rest of the league had their chance to catch up.

Lots of bad luck in the late innings. The out of the basepaths call, the liner right to SS, and then that. It's frustrating. That's just some goofy [expletive], man. Pretty sure a comfortably 1st place team losing a 1-0 game isn't some kind of divine smiting. Not at all. Just a series of unfortunate plays. If it happened in the middle of a 10 game winning streak it goes unnoticed. I get it. Still frustrating.

The only thing that really makes me mad about this series is the reminder that if we happen to be going through a slump like this in the wrong October week, bad things will happen in such a good season.

Baseball is freaking awesome but it really really sucks sometimes. No other sport has such drastic variance in performance from week to week. I'm probably wrong but seems like no other sport allows luck to play a drastic role in the outcome.
