  3. Weird to not have Heyward in the lineup 2 days in a row even if it's 2 lefties. Something else wrong with him?
  4. Err guess I should have just posted this [tweet] [/tweet] I will be mad if Zo or Russell get passed but if horsefeathering Bryant isn't starting I'll be pissed. Sorry Nolan this game isn't played in Colorado so take your shitty road splits to the bench
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] Also this. Dex will make it either way but looks like either other teams are surging in late votes or Cubs fans have voted less frequently
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] I missed that yesterday. Definitely need Zo in there
  7. I really hope our 5 Cubs hang on. I feel like over the last few years there has been some semi-suspicious instances where one guy has leaped another guy on the final polls after said player has lead the entire time. I wouldn't be shocked if Addy gets leaped.
  8. Sounds like a smart decision. I have to say, I don't root for anyone to be injured, but it would be slightly satisfying if the Cubs slug their way to a World Series title while the Mets miss the playoffs because all their young talented pitchers get hurt, because of the rebuild with hitters or pitchers dynamic.
  9. I honestly could just as easily see him staying all year as I could seeing him sent down. He definitely has value as a defender and hasn't at all hurt the team with his bat so far. But there are only 25 spots so unless you DFA Montero or Szczur or include Javy in a trade or something your bench is locked with Miggy, Ross, Javy, Soler/LaStella, Szczur when everyone is healthy
  10. He's not hitting nearly as well this year as he has in the last two. And even if he's hitting a little better than league average, the bullpen guys that pitch after him are most assuredly not....which means burning pinch hitters. 1) their bench kind of sucks 2) as mentioned above, the chances he goes at least 7 innings are pretty high 3) because you don't burn a PH as the DH, the first time you PH you are essentially even in terms of roster used with a DH. It's fairly unlikely that they use a 2nd PH in the pitchers spot given #2 I don't think its a brilliant move, but I don't think its stupid either. It's just fun.
  11. That makes sense. I still wonder what happens when Fowler and Soler are ready. I have a feeling Coghlan isn't long for this team. Yeah Coghlan getting released is likely a probable thing, maybe Montero to the DL for a bit. They could really take their time with Soler though and let him play in AAA for a few weeks once he's completely healthy. So it could just be needing to make room for Fowler immediately. I wonder if given how bad he's been this year and the fact that his defense is a huge negative and can't hit lefties, they could DFA him and assuming he's not claimed, can convince him to hang out in Iowa for awhile.
  12. [tweet] [/tweet] Wow this is actually pretty cool
  13. Looks like one more game at AAA for Seal Boy and I'm guessing he will be activated tomorrow (Friday). Guessing Patton since the Cubs have 13 pitchers currently
  14. How is the hell is Rozival still on this team? Mashinter I can kind of be ok with because hes only 27 and a depth 'in case of emergency' piece. But Rozival is old and is likely only going to sign unless he is going to play at least somewhat. Otherwise he'd just retire and we can forget he ever existed.
  15. Javy might be better currently, but Addison still has the higher ceiling. Javy hits lefties a lot better and is bad against righties, Addison hits righties better and is bad against lefties. Javy strikes out less (feels funny typing that), but Addison walks more. Both are very good fielders. They strangely compliment each other right now.
  16. I want to pound on the Mets, who are not currently in a playoff spot, and I welcome the comments from Mets fans about how they will get us back in the playoffs.
  17. TT's love of Bryan Price will never get old
  18. Yeah I was going to say go look back at the videos from the Schwarber game if you're considering trading him for a reliever. But then I remembered that a 9th and 13th inning HR game against Cinci in the regular season doesn't really jump out that much anymore when the dude clubbed the Cards and Pirates out of the playoffs with many magificent moon shots. Get real Yankees. Dude is clutch, he walks, he hits for power, he's young, he's beloved in the clubhouse, he actively seeks to increase his knowledge of the game, we control him for several more years at a very low price. His status as an untouchable should not even be up for debate.
  19. Javy is such an interesting player. He looks like he's falling back into old habits and then all the sudden he hits a grand slam and has 3 hits the next day and looks like a franchise cornerstone. I for one am enjoying the ride.
  20. I think teaching discipline is tough but if you have 40+ HR power you are going to naturally going to be pitched around more. Sammy Sosa had a career .308 OBP over his first 9 seasons, then starting with 1998 he had a .372 OBP over his last 9 seasons. Obviously there are a LOT of variables in there (steroids, the era, intentional walks, etc etc) but it is theoretically possible.
  21. If the Cubs schedule only had the Reds and Pirates on it, they would be on pace for a 144-18 season assuming we take care of business the rest of this one.
  22. Slow grounder to 2B, Javy charged it hard, lunged to make the tag on Votto, did a 270 degree spin and while going down threw a strike to Rizzo to get the guy at first. I hope the DVR caught this game. If not, Javys got it
  23. Peralta only threw 3 pitches last night so he should be good.
