  1. [expletive] this was supposed to be a RD makeup game
  2. I'll take the under if only because these super teams that come together seem to take time to gel. The heat were around .500 around Xmas their first year and the Love/Lebron/Kyrie group were under .500 in mid January I believe. That and the potential for injuries make me feel more comfortable going under.
  3. The NBA is a superstar driven league. Fans will have interest in the NBA because even though their home team has no shot to ever win a title, they do a great job of building superstar narratives that draw in fans. It's not ideal but they NBA doesn't really hurt because of it. In fact everyone is getting paid with the new insane TV deal.
  4. Durant to GS...
  5. The blip hasn't lasted that long. The 26-24 record since the 25-6 start has been thrown around but if you break it down its 22-14 (99 win pace) then 4-10. 14 games is not a long enough stretch go draw any meaningful conclusions
  6. Eh all I've read about him is that he's ball dominant (jimmy won't like) sells out for assists gambles on defense and isn't actually all that good anymore defensively and every single coach he's had going back to high school has had issues with him.
  7. I look at it this way, it won't drive away the casual fan who will be like "omg rondo I remember him great job GarPax". The die hards will expect this to fail and will hope it fails so badly the Bulls get a good pick and GarPax is fired. And then there's a small 1% sliver of a chance that against all logic it will work.
  8. Flores raised his season BA from .224 to .255 today
  9. Actually his is discouraging. If his back is good enough to pitch then it's not his back that's causing him to suck. He just sucks
  10. One good thing: 28 of our next 39 are at home
  11. It took the previous 13 games prior to this series for the Mets to score as many runs as they have scored in these 4 games. #embracingtheinnerstark
  12. Haven't really been pessimistic as much as Jason stalking negative observations. Most do because I was very insufferable in 2008 when I was actually being pessimistic. Now I'm slightly less insufferable but occasionally say something funny or positive
  13. you can't both say those things you said and then say that...like, i'm not worried by this recent stretch (mostly i'm just trying to ignore it), and i never believed their true talent level was 110+ games. that's, uh, really high. and i feel like that is an understatement. I'm kinda impressed how wildly UMFan oscillates from crippling pessimism to delusional optimism. Haven't really been pessimistic as much as Jason starking negative observations.
  14. I hope so. Definitely good enough to do that but it's hard to expect a team to finish at least 54-27 when they've gone 26-24 in last 50 games (and yes I understand all good teams ply .500 a chunk of the season. Just hard to visualize it when you are in that period). That said I still believe the talent level of this team is 110+ games just can't quite figure out why it hasn't translated lately. Probably because I'm dumb you can't both say those things you said and then say that...like, i'm not worried by this recent stretch (mostly i'm just trying to ignore it), and i never believed their true talent level was 110+ games. that's, uh, really high. and i feel like that is an understatement. Yeah it is and I think they have the talent to win that many games. Obviously luck falls into that equation and the Cubs have been one of the most unlucky teams in the league. If we are playing to our Pythagorean (was 6 games worse. After this series were probably closer to 4 wins now) we are 55-26 after today or exactly on pace for 110 wins with neutral luck
  15. We are underplaying our talent level and dealing with a lot of injuries and regressing at the same time we are playing a majority of our games against contenders. Doesn't explain all the losing but it is a reason for a lot of it
  16. I hope so. 17. I thought that was going be the grandpa Simpson in the burlesque house gif
  18. The Mets went through an entire run through the order and every single batter reached base.
  19. Gonna be funny when we have like 8 all stars announced on Tuesday
