actually Maddon should sub heyward into the game right now no matter who is due up for the Cubs so he can get his dong and the confidence boost that goes along with it.
checks out. that's .663 for the Cubs. If we finish this out today we are at 119-60 over 179 games. Thats a 107.7 win pace. Round up to 108 cause that sounds friggin awesome and the Cubs have played at a 108 win pace over an ENTIRE season of baseball at 179 games. & that was with a horrid month long stretch. Hell they are at a 108 pace & I'd guess underperformed their pythag. They have probably been playing closer to a 110+ win team for around 180 games. I am going to do something that makes absolutely no sense and remove the 5-15 stretch because I'll just pretend that like Javy forgot all our bench players names and it caused some disharmony that fractured the team for a month. Take that out and its 114-45 over 159 games, or a 116-46 pace over a 162 game season.
death, taxes, and some dumb cardinal with a stupid name will hit random home runs against the Cubs. We get him out when it counts: https://gfycat.com/SarcasticPleasantArgusfish\
97 pitches for Jake. Do you take him out and get 4 innings out of your pen with the huge lead, or do you throw Jake another inning to save the pen from a lot of work?
I mean ideally you'd want to get 7 out of him (which wont happen at this point) but we still have a decently rested pen. I would say Montgomery is the only on that is for sure out today. -Wood has thrown the last 2 games but he only threw 17 pitches last night and 1 the night before. Before that he hadn't pitched since the previous Saturday -Chapman same thing but he only threw 3 pitches last night, he should be good although I'm sure if he had to go Joe would make him unavailable on Saturday so he'll try to avoid -Grimm only threw 10 pitches yesterday and I'm really not sure what his usage was in iowa but probably didn't pitch on Wednesday in Iowa -Smith only threw 9 pitches and before that hadn't pitched since last Friday -Edwards didn't pitch yesterday so should be good
Isn't that only if the road team takes the lead in the top half of the inning that isn't completed? Otherwise, the score just goes back to the end of the last completed inning.
