  1. I've been saying that for a couple years now. But the guy took a month off and now hasn't hit for a month since coming back. I'd try and get him more playing time this week to see if he can get it together but I'm not sure he can hit anymore. It's not an attitude thing but taking a month off to hang at the jersey shore hasn't helped and could have had a real negative effect. eh. has he had that many at bats? he crushed a ball today that broxton died making a miraculous catch on I think he's had 20 ABs or so which isn't a ton but its the type of frequency he should expect to see ABs in his role (20 AB over 15 games)
  2. Part of me is like 'come on, not another awkward post-loss celebration', but the other part of me realizes how this team will quickly make you forget about the awkwardness of celebrating after a loss.
  3. Come on we should be out donging our opponents when the wind is blowing out. I don't care who is in the lineup
  4. Lackey has let the leadoff man reach in 5 of 7 innings but none of those leadoff men have scored thus far.
  5. I keep waiting for the lineup to turn over to the Bryant, Rizzo, Russell part and it never gets there.
  6. Probably has to do with playing against more RHPs and not being protected with favorable matchups. May just be the hitter he is vs RHP. This might be part of it, but when he was at his high point offensively this year, his OPS vs. LHP was slightly over 1.000 for the season. Now its at .834 for the season. His OPS vs. RHP has actually raised slightly from ~.650s (going from memory) to .689.
  7. Dammit Soler left because of tightness somewhere. Hope its not those hammys
  8. yeah the problem is that either La Stella or Coghlan will almost certainly get a roster spot because they are lefties.

  10. The Cubs are purposely spoiling all division clinching celebrations so that they are hungry for celebrations in October
  11. ok not a tasteful joke, im sorry i should think before i post because if i spent even 2 seconds to consider what I was posting I would have realized how bad and unnecessary the joke was. sorry again
  12. Well, that K rate is still lower than when he was awful in 2014 and if thats him at his worst thats really not too bad I'm not worried about him going back to 2014 or anything, and not necessarily worried about this slump either. He will get it back together. I just like annoyingly posting stats that show how much players are slumping or surging.
  13. Why are the Brewers so good against us lately?
  14. Javy has a .572 OPS and an almost 29.8% K rate since July 30. Blah, hope he can make some adjustments before the playoffs.
  15. OK so who pitches game 4 when John Lackey is in jail for murdering a teammate on live TV?
  16. And they men so obviously the girl knew what was going on
  17. When someone bad happened to the Cubs Fred would say funny things instead of swears, the most common being "Oh horsefeathers !" In tribute to Fred, the swearing filter was changed so that swears were auto replaced to say "horsefeathers"
  18. I would play each individual starter once every 2-3 games for this homestand, and then unless a guy is banged up, play the starters as normal for the Pirates series, and Friday of the Reds series. Do a JV lineup on Saturday against the Reds, and then get the starters 2 ABs on Sunday and pull them. So for Rizzo it would look something like this F Off S Off S On M On T Off W On F Off S On S Off M On T On W On F On S Off S 2 AB That gives him 9 starts in the final 15 games, and 8 days off including normal off days.
  19. My favorite was 2003, mostly because I think it was somewhat unexpected that we would clinch with a day to spare considering it took 2 Cubs win and an Astros loss the day before to set up a meaningless game 162. Dusty did give some of the starters a start but pulled them after 1 PA, leaving this lineup Goodwin, RF Womack, 2B Glanville, CF O'Leary, LF Martinez, SS Karros, 1B Ojeda, 3B Paul, C Mitre, P
  20. He's definitely not plus plus likeability. He's kinda jerkfacy. This is a really really really odd take really really really

  22. I'd rather see the other split squad play. Nah I love this! We will probably win too.
  23. Not sure if you are kidding, weather looks fine to me until the evening. We do NOT need any rainouts to give us one less potential win because unless the rainout is in the Cardinals series next week, they will not replay any rainouts against the Brewers, Reds or Pirates
