Also for those ripping on Chapman (which is fine because of his off field issues) remember that he was pitching in his 4th game in 4 days and threw 24 pitches the day prior. He is almost certainly unavailable for today's game -
This loss lowers the Cubs winning percentage to .824 in August. They're now 69-4 when leading after 7 how are you NOT panicking?!?!?! That stat is crazy just because 3 of those 4 losses have come during a 18-4 stretch. And the 4th loss in the stretch was a game we led after 6. You would think those losses would have come in games before we fortified the pen or at least not during an otherwise perfect stretch of baseball (although our pen has been missing Strop and Rondon for half the stretch and "fortified" really means Chapman who blew 2 of the losses and Montgomery who hasn't really pitched in high leverage situations since coming here)

The Cubs are now 2-2 in games where I go to bed before the outcome is decided. Waking up at 5 and finding out they won is more fun but ultimately losing sucks less than staying up and watching it.

95 percent of the time I don't care but blowing a late 4 run lead will upset me a tad. Especially when 3 of those 4 runs were scored on an error, ground out and sac fly

Well 2nd and 3rd best relievers are out, joe doesn't want to use the 4th best reliever and the best reliever doesn't want to pitch in the 8th. I guess this is what you get. Good thing these games don't mean a lot other than robbing Hendricks of a win.

I certainly want Schwarber back and destroying baseballs again, but unfortunately even if he is healing and regaining strength and all that -- there just isn't enough time left to send him to the minors or AZ to get game ready. Another problem is that we play in the wrong league -- no DH. Schwarber for this yr at least, is most likely only a DH right now. Getting full mobility, agility and the reps needed to play C and LF adequately would take a while. I'm not saying there is no chance, but its low. Very low chances unfortunately...maybe >1% (especially if they go far in the playoffs), but not by that much. No way is there a 10% of coming back this yr sadly. don't think anyone even speculating on a return this year would go as far as to think they'd put him in LF or C...more like pinch hit weapon off the bench, maybe world series DH oh man how awesome would that be. Schwarbs spends 4 weeks in Arizona hitting and getting his timing and then becomes the DH for game 1 of the World Series. The only shitty thing about that scenario is him not being in the dugout for the playoff run. -
Anderson is a lefty... Whoops, I had Chase Anderson on my mind when I googled. Then that makes more sense. That said Soler in RF with that spacious OF will be interesting to say the least.
