  1. I'm so used to Addy coming through in those situations that it's actually jarring that he didn't.
  2. Is 31 yards of offense in the first half of the dress rehearsal game bad?
  3. Proposed title change to: Is Kris Bryant going to clinch the MVP in August?
  4. 2 fun facts: 1. That was Jansens first blown save at home since June 2015 2. That was the first HR Liberatore has given up all season.
  5. Why is Montgomery batting here? He's at like 75 pitches. Guess it's too early to use a PH when you have a 4 man bench
  6. Hope big Trev is ready to eat some innings
  7. It's true regardless of how the postseason weighted crapshoot plays out. The Cubs are the best team at virtually every area of the game
  8. Wasn't that Javy? I thought I remembered giving Cards fans down here a bunch of crap because our backup SS hit a mammoth dong off their amazing greatest hero pitcher ever. Nope definitely Soler. Javy only had 1 HR in the postseason and we all remember it. If fact I'm pretty sure Addy started that game, but I'm not sure if he had injured himself by that point in the game or not.
  9. I still think that was the right move. He actually pulled him early so that he could bring him back on 3 days rest in game 4. The Cubs had a good back end of the bullpen, and the Cubs really didn't have a 4th starter by that point. Marshall I believe was at his innings limit by that point, Marquis had a 5.73 ERA in the second half of the year, and Trachsel had just been terrible. 1 inning of Zambrano even in a big leverage spot was not worth having Marquis pitch vs having Lilly pitch a second time in the series. Obviously it ended up working out the worst way possible. trying to make guys go on short rest in playoffs is bad Javy seems to think its good.
  10. are you considering skokie and lincolnwood as "west burbs?!" anyway, the sandwiches are fine. can be hit or miss. i've definitely had better, but that's usually been in florida. Nooooo, I'm saying there's nothing here in the West Burbs. I have family in Skokie I visit probably once a month so I'd stop down there next time if it was worth going.
  11. The Braves will be very disappointed to know that after tonight they will have no shot at the best record in baseball.
  12. Do you recommend this Taste of Cuba place? Not a ton of good Cuban options out there in the west burbs. I used to go to Cafe 28 in Lakeview all the time but they closed down.
  13. Not favored tomorrow too (49/51), and Sunday is 50/50. Of course for tomorrow's game they don't have a Dodgers starter listed, which somehow no starting pitcher is worth only -4, while Hammel is worth -21. Actually looking down the slate of games, I wonder why teams have different adjustments for no listed starter. Like for instance, the Cubs get -6 points when no starter is listed while someone like the Reds get +13 points.
  14. More like a mix between playful fun and pointing out how awesome it is. Trust me I've done the 14 hour Disney day w/my daughter, and while I'm not necessarily belting out 'let it go' at the top of my lungs I'm pretty disney brainwashed by the time the closing parade is going on.
  15. What's the problem? He's giving his kid(s) an awesome experience. Good for him. I am grateful I'm going to get to avoid the Frozen stuff when we go to Disney this November though. I didn't say there was a problem. I just didn't know how to articulate what you were about to see.
  16. I....don't know what to say about this [tweet]https://twitter.com/benzobrist18/status/769052863951699968[/tweet]
  17. Yeah I remember we were all like 'LOL look at that run differential, we are going to clown these fools in the playof- what the hell we just got swept' 2003 was painful for obvious reasons, but I think 2007 was a little more soul-crushing, personally. I still can't get over the fact that Lou pulled Z after 6 innings (I think 85 pitches) in a tie game in Game 1 because he wanted him sharp for game 5. He was pitching great and you win the game you are playing in first. And it doesnt help that Marmol immediately gave up a HR to the first batter he faced to break the tie.
  18. Who has won all 4 (non-consecutive)? I don't think anyone has. Buster Posey and Bryce Harper - Missing Minor League POY Jose Canseco and Mike Trout - Missing the Golden Spikes award Kris Bryant - Missing the MVP award (for now)
  19. Yeah they won 90 games despite being outscored for the season. Then kicked our ass in the playoffs to boot. Yeah I remember we were all like 'LOL look at that run differential, we are going to clown these fools in the playof- what the hell we just got swept'
  20. Yeah but doesn't ERA+ equalize the ERAs relative to the environment they play in?
  21. Oh God they are already plotting out their way to downplay the Cubs winning the World Series "yeah you might have won the World Series with one of the more dominant teams ever but you didn't pitch 4 consecutive complete games in the LCS." or "Yeah but it took you losers 5 games to win the World Series. YOU ARE NOTHING until you SWEEP your opponent"
  22. What did this say? Someone said Cubs fans always throw shade on Grichuk and they don't know why. Then someone responded saying something like they knew Grichuk was more valuable than Bryant last year and they don't forget it or something dumb like that.
  23. https://twitter.com/jstriebel22/status/768622246726242305
  24. The Cubs have the best record in baseball by 7.5 games. If the Nats score holds they will have a bigger lead for best record in baseball than any 1st place team's divisional lead
