Yes only because Kluber Miller and Allen can likely cover more innings than Kershaw and Jansen. Like for instance if the Dodgers had Andrew Miller, he could have come in early in Game 6 when the score was still 2-0, pitched 3 innings and turned it over to Shaw for a couple of innings, then Allen. The Dodgers didn't really have anyone else in the pen that could put the fear of God into you besides Jansen.

The key is getting to him early. I think Francona is going to prepare him as if he is going 4-5 innings no matter what. He will tell him there is no need to preserve his arm for an 8 inning start, there is no need to hold anything back in early ABs so he can bring it out the 3rd time around the order. Treat the game as if he was coming out of the pen and let it rip. But I think scoring off Kluber is still going to be our best shot. Miller, Allen and Shaw should all be quite sharp, so he could easily get 4-5 strong innings out of them. The most likely outcome if the Cubs win is the Cubs getting 3 runs off of Kluber and then 1-2 off of the pen, while our pitching does enough to preserve the win.

i am so unbelievably nervous that there's some part of me that wishes i could not watch the game or something. like my body is physically wanting to reject watching the game. Yes I still don't understand what all the uproar is about. Do I understand people disagreeing with Joe's decision to use Chapman in a 5 run game after throwing 42 pitches 2 days ago and with game 7 tomorrow? Of course. However I still think Joe made a reasonable call that is not worth being THE story of Game 6. I think it was important to shut the door on Cleveland in the 7th, absolutely no problems with that. Once you have him in and warmed up, I think its reasonable to have him pitch the 8th to put most doubt away. The only issue I had, which TT and others brought up, is that Joe did not have anyone warming in the bullpen to start the top of the 9th. The chances of Grimm or Wood pitching in Game 7 are almost 0, so there is absolutely no harm in having them warm up to start the inning in case the Cubs scored. Actually at that point with the indians needing 5 runs with only 3 outs, I would have took Chapman out regardless because I think even the Reds bullpen would have a 99% chance of shutting the door on the game and if you can't trust Strop, Rondon, Wood, Grimm, Edwards and Lackey to shut the door you probably don't deserve to win. At that point, the win probability was so high that it makes sense to prepare for Game 7. But even if you were ok with Chapman pitching the 9th in a 5 run game, they should have been warming up in case the Cubs scored. I don't think those 4 extra pitches will matter for Chapman, he was throwing 98 mph fastballs just to get through the batter so Strop could come in, but its still a bit careless on Joe's part. Anyways, most of this was a series of defensible decisions. You can make a compelling argument that he was wrong, but it wasn't a "OMG WTF WAS STUPID JOE DOING HE RUINED THE CUBS TONIGHT" type of decision.

I don't think Joe will lift Chapman but I might at this point. 15 pitches leaves you in a good spot for Game 7. If you can't trust literally every other member of your pen to get 3 outs without allowing 5 runs, you don't deserve to win the World Series

At this point you have to assume that. Especially considering the other person warming when Chapman was warming was Grimm. There is no reason Grimm should have passed Strop on the depth chart unless he's hurt.

I can understand disagreeing with the decision but not to the level people on Twitter are. I am completely in the boat of "do everything to win game 6". 5 run lead is not enough to disregard that. The only thing that sucks about this is that once you bring him in, it is very difficult to take him out until the game is over unless he's ineffective
