  1. Great oral history piece on the last day of the 2012 Premier League season from Grant Wahl https://www.si.com/longform/manchester-city-2012-epl-title-final-day-oral-history/index.html
  2. Well both the teams I wanted to win last night lost. Now I am not sure who to root for. I actually don't mind Nashville despite a very loose rivalry with the Blackhawks in recent years. So probably them.
  3. Cargo made two 5 star catches in this series including one with a 5% catch probability.
  4. Could be the start of our turnaround by seizing back first place.
  5. I wish someone like Rizzo, Russell or Zobrist could have hit there
  6. The Chicago sports world has been pretty stupid since the Cubs won the World Series. And then there's the whole Trump thing....
  7. [expletive]....that would have been a 6 run inning from the 2016 Cubs
  8. tbh I'm gonna throw a tantrum if he doesn't start Friday or Saturday Eddie Butler? I'd like to see what he's got. Can't Lester start Friday, he pitched on Sunday. yeah with the off day we can technically skip the 5th starter spot, but I thought I remember reading that they were anticipating Lester having an extra day off when they allowed him to throw 120 pitches on Sunday, so who knows.
  9. that looks like a spring training lineup lol
  10. Well Heyward is on the DL, Joe prefers Jay in the lineup against righties, and Schwarber should probably be in the lineup with Rizzo sitting. This could have been a good game to get Almora a shot against a RHP, at the very worst sacrificing offense for defense, but its defensible.
  11. Kyle has a decent/pretty good track record at Coors in his career 2014 - 8 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, Cubs win 6-2 2015 - 4.1 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, Cubs win 6-5 (believe this was Dex HR in the 9th game) 2016 - 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, Cubs blow a 5-1 lead and lose 7-6 in 11 innings
  12. Cubs gonna win and only 3 pages of game thread
  13. 2 OF starts in the same day for Bryant after not appearing anywhere defensively but 3B in his first 31 games.
  14. Who is excited for some more Cubs baseball!
  15. And as a reward he will likely be sent down after today for a fresh arm.
  16. Our 3 runs today have been scored on RBI groundouts. Very sexy.
  17. counterpoint: the cubs are supposed to be the best, the ones curbstomping others I stand by my wording. We're getting beat down by ourselves as well.
  18. It certainly always looks more glaring when the long .500 stretch is at the start of the season rather than a random 32 game sample in July/August
  19. Well at least the 2 teams that have curbstomped us during this streak are a combined 42-21, we we're getting beat down by the best.
  20. Only 4 more runs allowed today to have a negative run differential for the season.
  21. Ooooh, look, it's our resident bastion of positivity! Eh, I think he gets a pass today, given that 80% of the posts in here sound pretty similar to that one. This is not at all fun to watch, but I just can't bring myself to care too much. The offense is too good, the division is too bad, and we've got more than enough in reserve to trade for whatever holes we have. Plus, the whole World Series Champions thing. Oh yeah this is one of those few times that negativity feels right. That said, i know most of the people that are letting themselves go today have enough perspective to know that this team is capable of being significantly better (duh).
