  1. My list of Cubs games I attended that were meaningful 1998: Sammy 60th HR (missed him passing Maris by a day dammit) 2007?: Tom Glavine's 300th win 2008: Z's no hitter in Milwaukee 2016: Game 1 NLDS
  2. So I guess this isn't the start to an improbable MLB comeback for Demp?
  3. I'd like to put TCU back into at large consideration.
  4. :banghead: And I forgot Maryland, at the very least they should be ahead of Michigan Put them between Minnesota and Dayton and then add OK State and Creighton at bottom
  5. 4 playoff appearances in 22 years
  6. I have to be perfectly honest, I would have a really hard time ranking those teams without pouring through the resumes of each one. I might have to sit this step out :( What would your next 12 be on the board after the 18 liated? 17. Duke 18. Purdue 19. Butler 20. Arizona 21. Wisconsin 22. Notre Dame 23. Iowa St 24. Wichita St 25. Minnesota 26. Dayton 27. St. Marys 28. Michigan (yeah whats up...wanna fight about it?)
  7. K-L-C-A-H-Q-I-B-J-M-D-O-N-E-F-G-P-R
  8. This is dumb and wrong. The idea that smart teams don't spend in free agency is dumb and wrong. You have to spend in free agency to compete. There is no such thing as a purely draft driven team. Cap space can and should be used to acquire the best players possible. If you drafted a starter on 50% of your draft picks, it would take you like 6 years to build a team entirely through the draft if you started from scratch which is kinda sorta where the Bears were at in 2014. And 50% seems like a pretty high hit rate. So yeah FA absolutely has to play a part in making a really crappy talent-less team into a contender relatively quickly. #badmathandlogic #butpointstands
  9. I don't want to blow our load, but I want us to fill holes. In case you missed it we were a 3-13 team last year and I don't know how signing Glennon, losing an all pro receiver and not getting a top FA at a position of glaring weakness is a good thing.
  10. I've been in meetings most of the day so I might have missed something but today seems like a total disaster. -Confirmed that we're wildly overpaying Glennon by $5m more than anyone else would offer -Fail to sign either of their 2 CB targets which might be our biggest glaring weakness -Sign a 32 year old safety who is good but again 32 -Sign a TE that might potentially be good -Lose Alshon Jeffrey on a 1 year horsefeathering deal I mean I guess Alshon's deal is basically the franchise tag but still, our offense is terrible now.
  11. Cutler, Forte, Marshall, Jeffrey, Bennett turns into Glennon, Howard, White, Someone, Someone during Pace's 3 year tenure
  12. exactly but they will probably brown it up by starting him instead of drafting a guy
  13. tried to defend pace and be patient but he's really losing me today...
  14. The only thing I take from that is that Kyle Long sounds like a complete trainwreck if Cutty had to do all that.
  15. Looks like Bears are out on both CB targets. Great work Pace
  16. I seriously get so jealous when I hear about you bums going to those games. I did at least get to go to the Javy HR game in the NLDS so I was there for a very small part of the playoff run.
  17. LOL...I've been following story all afternoon and it still took me a second to get it. Nice one.
  18. I have to be perfectly honest, I would have a really hard time ranking those teams without pouring through the resumes of each one. I might have to sit this step out :(
  19. is 13 drops in 6 games even a relatively high total? i'm thinking it is, but obviously it's not like you just turn them all into completions. Seriously. And if all his passes were more accurate, he would have had a 100% completion percentage. What a find!
  20. The issue is, do you see him as your long term solution, and if not will Glennon starting prevent the Bears from acquiring and giving playing time to the guy you do see as long term (most likely via the draft)?
  21. I hope we can at least end up with Gilmore...
  22. On a semi-related note, I hate how FA is before the draft in the NFL. You wonder if the Bears would be trying to sign this dude if they snagged someone like Kizer or Davis Webb in the 2nd round before FA started.
  23. A) A stopgap QB isn't a thing. B) He's only not a terrible one because there is not such thing. He's a QB. The Bears are on the verge of signing Neck Glennon to be their QB. There is a difference between drafting Mitch Trubisky to be their QB and signing Brian Hoyer to be their QB. One they hope will still be their QB in 5 seasons, the other they hope will play decent enough to not embarrass them so they keep their jobs long enough to acquire their actual QB for 5 seasons from now. If you have another term for signing someone with the intention of basically treading water at the QB position while you develop or otherwise acquire your real QB of the future, that's what it is. I guess you could question the concept of developing a QB as we've seen guys like Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott come in and have success immediately. Also I'm not advocating that a 'stopgap' QB is a real viable NFL strategy for team building, just that it exists. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a perfect example from last year. Sam Bradford as well but obviously under special circumstances.
  24. Not thrilled with it and definitely a black mark on his resume, but given where we are at and if you believe that none of the top QBs are #3 pick worthy your options are what exactly? -Keep Cutler....I wouldn't mind this but management and a large chunk of the fan base just want to move on. Even if you kept Cutler it would essentially just be a stopgap anyways -FA QBs? Taylor, Glennon, Hoyer? Stopgap, stopgap, stopgap. -Get involved in a trade for Cousins? -Draft a QB after the 1st round? You could plan to start them from day 1 and sign a Hoyer type as backup in case its clear that they aren't ready during the preseason. I get that your point is likely that it should have been addressed in years 1 and 2, but now that we're here, in terms of stopgaps, Glennon isnt a terrible one.
