  1. lol, I was reading a Fangraphs chat, and someone mentioned the idea of keeping Ohtani in Triple-A for 2 weeks to get an extra year of control out of him. That would be hilarious.
  2. If that happens, its kind of justified, isn't it? If Garoppolo IS a good QB and could have been had for a 2nd, versus a 1st and a 3rd for Trubisky, it seems reasonable to me, to question things. He's older, likelier to be ready quicker, and the team could conceivably had a quicker path to success under him. I'm not saying he WILL be good or that Mitch won't be either. But, IF Garappolo does wind up good, its not a great look for Pace and this super slow rebuild. Especially when its not certain Mitch does wind up good, even if I think he'll get there in a year or two. Oh yeah totally. I guess you could assume that if the Pats held onto him into the current season, that they would either have to trade Jimmy for a lesser amount (because of his FA status) or tag him to be the backup QB. In that case the value would certainly drop unless a number of teams were willing to bid for him mid-season. I think it was Bill Simmons that speculated that Belichick rationalized that Brady could play at a high level for 2-4 more years and that at 65 currently, he would just retire at the top whenever Brady is done, so he doesn't care about the long term QB situation.
  3. Can't wait for Bears Twitter to flip out when Jimmy has a better game than Mitch and beats the Bears after the Niners acquired him for less than the Bears did for Mitch.
  4. Dusty really needs something better to do in his free time Edit: oh wait Fangraphs, nevermind he has no idea what that is
  5. I was so close to pointing out the Bears were 5th in the NFL in rushing yards and YPA earlier this week.
  6. Props to the Bears fan that has a giant logo of Firefox
  7. Cohen has to be the worst kickoff returner in the league.
  8. Thanks for sharing, that was a good read
  9. I think this is a good thing for the Cubs. If he is looking for a team to blow him away with an articulate and detailed plan etc that is where Theo can shine
  10. That was insane, I’m glad I caught that this was going on via twitter and was able to watch the last 9 mins or so. Part of it was just because Minnesota really didn’t have any clue how to use their extra guys. Sometimes they triple teamed the ball handler, other times it looked like they were guarding ghost players on Alabama
  11. Between the Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks all being in last place and another season with 0 UM rivalry wins, I’m ready for Cubs baseball (and UM basketball) Everyone says Michigan should be great next year but they have to play at Notre Dame, Northwestern, Michigan State and Ohio State plus home games against Penn State and Wisconsin, I have a hard time seeing anything less than 2 losses
  12. If GarPax’s excuse of nobody they liked being available was true, why wouldn’t you trade it for a future pick at least? I believe that pick was the Deng pick we hoped would be a 1st for years. So basically we traded Deng for cash (which ironically enough is how we got him)
  13. Sad potential ending of a career
  14. Ohtani, Hendricks, Lester, Darvish, Quintana seems fine (in no specific order)
  15. *looks at source and sees Sean Sears*
  16. TBH I’d much rather keep Wilson than sell low on him. I think there’s a pretty good chance he has a bounce back and is actually a pretty valuable part of the pen next year.
  17. That's actually pretty cool. Cubs making a guest visit to the Grapefruit League
  18. I've never wanted to admit steroid users to the HOF more than I do right now.
  19. So we're now tied with the Colts and Broncos for 4th worst record in the league. I think the Bears have played the 3rd hardest schedule so far so they would lose tiebreakers to both and pick 6th. Any early thoughts on who we should draft in the first round? Side rant: I get the logic why the team with an easier SOS should win the tiebreaker, but given how impossible it is to balance schedules, I think it should be the other way around and you should not further penalize a team that was already forced to face a harder schedule by giving them a lower draft pick.
  20. The Cubs and Marlins will be the first scheduled game on Opening Day, at 11:30 AM ET, broadcast on ESPN: (Edit: Just read the fine print..ESPN broadcast will be blacked out in Chicago, so guessing Len and JD on the call)
  21. What Pace said when he cut Gould and signed Barth: Yeesh
  22. Tanker of the night: Justin Holiday
