I mean it's pouring outside the mound is muddy, the ball is difficult to grip. He could just be sucking but I gotta think the weather is playing a part Every other pitcher tonight has not had a similar issue Like I said the conditions seem to have really deteriorated the last 20 mins or so

To continue the theme of bad Cubs luck, the conditions completely deteriorate as the Cubs are pitching.

It gets lost in the shuffle that this horsefeathers isn't actually supposed to be easy all the time. At this point in the game, this offense has given me no hint that they can win this. Can they? Of course, but I don't have a lot of confidence right now. We are talking about the same team that was no hit into the 6th inning of game 1 and no hit into the 7th of game 3 and won both games right?

I actually feel decent about this game. Yet again one of their ace pitchers who have started 75% of the games in this series is throwing a gem and yet again the Cubs are right there waiting to capitalize

This would be why people wanted to skip Jake and go to Kyle for this game. No doubt there is a chance that Jake is awesome, but he's had what 8 innings of work in a game since Sept 4th. There was always a chance his mechanics were going to be off and he was going to miss spots. He's gotten away with it mostly so far but starting to get better contact on him

Crazy that we will have to only face starters with ERA's under 3 this series regardless of how long it goes.

That sucks....glad Jake limited the damage and only had to throw 3 more pitches. The only penalty is the single run (which obviously is huge)

To be fair, pitchers don't have a strong incentive to throw a ball anywhere near the strike zone regardless of where Javy is batting. Not all of the time but much of the time. Although I will say that by hitting 8th, you are basically inviting Javy to swing even more freely than normal with RISP.
