  1. That swinging K on 0-2 was the furthest from making contact I've seen this Spring by a LOT.
  2. Lays it on a bit thick and maybe everyone else already knew all of this about Ichiro (I didn't), but thought this was a pretty good read: http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/22624561/ichiro-suzuki-return-seattle-mariners-resolve-internal-battle
  3. Yep. Actual footage: [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  4. [tweet]https://twitter.com/GrimmReaper_52/status/968984194171920385[/tweet] To be fair to Grimm...this IS Spring training. I prefer HRs allowed to walks at this point, no matter last year's HR/9 rate.
  5. Every time I see an Australian being mildly funny makes me fairly sad that John Clarke died.
  6. Probably not washing his temple garments often enough.
  7. Damn it I sort of remember what this is a reference to but don't I think maybe last spring there was an article about Russell and his family and how his mom was still working like three jobs, and while he was hitting that grand slam she was working the grill at Chili's or something like that and for some reason she still hadn't even seen it. edit - it was chili's https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2017/02/09/addison-russell-cubs/97693202/ ...his domestic issues are starting to make a little more sense.
  8. Apart from making winning a bad thing, absolutely nothing. And that doesn't go for all power-ups? Red shells punish being ahead as well. So does the likelihood of getting nothing but useless junk while sitting in first. On the flip side, get a blue shell and work your way to 1st on your own rather than using it, and you're basically invincible, rewarded for winning. Red shells only reach ahead by one dood. They don't automatically off the person in first no matter what position you are in when you acquire it. The "useless junk" can often deflect a red shell, or make it more difficult to be caught...so I don't really see where you are going with this. Blue shells are different than other power ups and they are horrible.
  9. And they kept huddling after every play in the Super Bowl. Yes, those two sports are completely analogous. Good call Damn, you really hate analogies, huh?
  10. What the horsefeathers is wrong with the blue shell??? Apart from making winning a bad thing, absolutely nothing.
  11. I want this guy to announce all sports always: https://www.nbcolympics.com/news/us-ends-42-year-olympic-cross-country-medal-drought-historic-gold/?cid=eref%3Anbcnews%3Atext
  12. That is a worse idea than the horsefeathering blue shell in Mario Kart.
  13. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-cubs-anthony-rizzo-childrens-book-20180221-story.html
  14. I think you mean Dempster impersonating Will Farrell impersonating Harry. I'm convinced Dempster has never heard Harry speak first hand.
  15. Well, to be fair, this hasn't happened yet in our off-shoot of the time paradox. Dusty Baker Jr. creates a time machine in 2035 and goes back in time to take Mark Prior farther back in time to a place where his father cannot harm him, which, of course, prevents the Trump Presidency altogether. Keep reading for info on how Mark Bellhorn was involved in the Kennedy Assassination. Edit: Crap, second joke in just never works as well.
  16. I'd rather switch Happ and Zo but whatever.
  17. The depth thing is just beyond silly and I see it all the time. Three of Happ/Almora/Zobrist/Baez/Schwarber/LaStella comes off the bench everyday and each is good enough to start for most teams. Its almost like these yahoos are docking the Cubs for not having figured out a way to have 10 players in the field.
  18. You won't believe who we traded him for! I was a big Valbuena fan, but I was pretty pumped about that trade.
  19. Give me the under on the Yanks and Brewers, pronto.
  20. It’s interesting. Hendricks was a weird pitcher even before his fastball averaged 86 MPH. Shallow repertoire, declining velocity, decling whiff rates, missed time with an upper body and throwing arm injury, more flyballs and hard contact....Smoke! I don't really see an obvious decline in K rate. His velocity was climbing ever since his return from the DL. Shallow?! He has a 4 pitch mix with good movement on 3 of them with deception and control. If that is smoke, give me a toke.
  21. Oh, I like it. Didn’t Epstein once comment that these sinkerballing pitchers have very short peaks? Hendricks has never developed a good breaking ball, which is going to bite him in the ass at some point. You like it?! What in the...it's like that "If Zambrano starts your in trouble" guy never happened. Sinkerballers are money with this infield and we all know it. Now I have to go and buy a Hendricks jersey.
