  1. Q's wife had an irregular heartbeat. She is fine though.
  2. I know, but the guy really had no business getting there, even though it was limit. Capped preflop, flop, and turn 3 way. I was on the button, AA on the SB, 99 on the BB. Myself and the SB are on the TAG side. SB managed to fold on the river. I was convinced that one of the other two hands had a set of 3s or 2s, and there is a MASSIVE bad beat jackpot that's close to 600k, so everyone was paying close attention.
  3. It was mostly an active decision; I was just too damn anxious by the time the game rolled around, so I knew I wasn't going to be watching all or most of the game unless the Cubs took and held a decent early lead or Hendricks looked amazing. Too nervous. I think a huge part of it are TBS' horrible, horrible announcers. It's some kind of Pavlovian response where as soon as I hear their voices I think the worst is going to happen. I played the superstition game with this one as well. I watched Silence of the Lambs and the news but was checking in constantly but making sure not watch during any action because that messed with the juju lol. The Cubs did good things when I didn't watch and bad things when I did watch so I rolled with that through about the 6th inning when Monty got in trouble and my system had been debunked. I knew this was going to be a crazy ass game so I paced myself. Thankfully it worked out in the end. I decided to play poker at a casino while the game was going on, so I wasn't losing my mind at every pitch. After the 2nd inning, I was only glancing every now and again, and missed most of the 5th inning non-sense apart from the passed ball...because I had pocket 8s on an 88329 board against AA and 99. Totally absurd. I did have to sit out for the bottom of the 9th, tho. Not a bad night.
  4. Science is basically just weird groupthink, right? What I want to know is, have the people that did that study ever had sex with the opposite gender?!
  5. In Pog form. http://www.voont.com/files/images/pogs/luann.jpg
  6. What's more fun is that we can realistically have 7 next year if you add Russell into that mix. ...which Russell?

  8. With Uehara,CJ,Strop not being as dominating in the second half, I wouldn't mind bringing Verlander on to be an Andrew Miller 2 INN RP type in the playoffs. Let him throw 8-10 innings in a series. verlander would probably refuse to report to the team if the cubs tried to do that. I mean, probably? But maybe he wants to win a World Series or something. Might as well ask, right? I like the idea.
  9. oh and neither of these guys are our one of our 2 best home grown players (or 3 if you wanna cheat and count rizzo's start at iowa) I have a friend that follows the Rockies pretty closely, but not baseball in general. He made a comment about a year ago that went something like "The Rockies got Jon Gray with the 3rd pick of the draft...as a Cub fan, with the 2nd pick...regretting that draft now?" Took me a minute to realize he wasn't being a wiseass. That's when I switched from a polite laugh to a belly laugh.
  10. I haven't gotten to watch as many games as I would have liked this season, but this is easily the most entertaining thus far, for me. I did get to see the 10th inning comeback which happened recently, but was there one that I've missed so far this year even in the running (assuming we go on to win)?

  12. Steal home a lot more?
  13. I hope that he ride him like a rented mule, that he plays poorly for the rest of his career, and when Ellen Degeneres is elected President in 2020, I'll wish Arrieta well when he moves to the Philippines or whichever country best aligns with his political views.
  14. bones jackson was the man! I was more of a Darkstar man. ...was that his name? He was the one that wasn't the lizard or the two oafs who always got beheaded. What a great, dumb show. Had nothing on Exo Squad, tho.
  15. This already happened back in the 2015 in the playoffs. Baez pwned the Cards (and Horseteeth specifically), and I've never wavered in my belief in his pwnage.
  16. Let's cut this guy some slack. Maybe he just honestly didn't know that being in the Cubs starting rotation means that you pitch every 5 days, and that was the inexplicable part. Like, maybe he just wants Lackey to pitch every 10 days instead, and can we blame him for that?
  17. Hey stop making dumb posts. The cubbies are headed for the playoffs!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Naw, you'd still need two: http://jwilson.coe.uga.edu/EMAT6680Fa09/Singletary/Assignment%207/PIC1gif.gif I don't know about that particular graph or Venn diagram though -- assuming A=Trump Base and B=Total Cardinals' fanbase. Hmm, I think A is smaller than B and fits inside it, but they're pretty damn close in size... I have friends who are unfortunately Cardinals fans, but they are liberal and vote Democratic (for the most part). I grew up downstate in Carbondale, but fortunately for me it's a progressive blue bastion among the sea of backwards, redneck country that is Southern Illinois. The electoral map for Illinois is pretty depressing, but Jackson County went blue last year, which made me pretty damn happy. I wish some political scientist or PhD student did a thorough scientific study on the political beliefs/religious views of different fanbases across MLB. It's either the Braves or the Cardinals for the most conservative, Trump-supporting fanbase in MLB, but I'd like to back it up with some good empirical data. http://media2.giphy.com/media/12Nxp9loRy1yPC/giphy.gif

  20. If you drew a Venn diagram of Trump's base and Cardinal fans, would you even need two circles? Naw, you'd still need two: http://jwilson.coe.uga.edu/EMAT6680Fa09/Singletary/Assignment%207/PIC1gif.gif
