  1. Carter Hawkins was just on 670 and said there just wasn’t that much really good starting pitching available this year and that’s the reason why the Cubs didn’t trade for any
  2. Caleb and a lot of the starters not playing on Sunday. Seems odd.
  3. It depends. If somehow this slump continues the entire second half, possibly. But I only see that happening if he’s playing through an injury and that does make evaluating him tough. Tucker is too good of a player to play this poorly for this long unless he’s hurt. My fear is that more than once the Cubs have let players play through injuries rather than IL them and that is happening again.
  4. He’s already basically said he likes Chicago. If the Cubs are the highest bidder, he’ll sign even if the Cubs fall apart in the second half. The issue is that the Cubs almost certainly won’t be the highest bidder.
  5. I don’t understand this logic. Tucker is a big part of the problem right now. He is the scenery.
  6. That’s why they kept Caissie. The Cubs don’t even bid on star players let alone outbid others.
  7. Jed and Carter will ramble on and go into tons of overextended analysis about how they did the right thing at the trade deadline…even though they did the wrong thing. Jed is just afraid of making a mistake and when you are afraid to make a mistake you risk being mediocre.
  8. There’s something wrong with the Cubs minor league development. They let bad habits develop like PCA’s plate discipline and Shaw’s huge leg kick. Those should be addressed before they are exposed in the big leagues. With that said, Pete had an OPS of .984 in August so his sky isn’t falling.
  9. He looks like he was more focused on waving the safe sign than hitting the bag
  10. Carter Hawkins will thoroughly justify the drop in velocity as others in this thread have, but don’t be surprised when a guy who is hurt a lot is hurt again
  11. Who has a very long and distinguished injury history. But it was a value trade or something.
  12. That stuff just doesn’t happen much anymore and it’s not Counsell’s MO. The Cubs were playing a lot better than their talent for a long time. They just weren’t that good. Counsell already saying Soroka to the IL. Wow, Jed looks really bad.
  13. I don’t see why. It’s clear that winning is not Tom’s number one priority.
