  1. He didn’t do much of anything to make the Cubs good in the first half and there is little he can do to get them out of this funk now
  2. LOL, Jed and Tom don’t want to risk 2032. Jed doesn’t know how to be really good even if he wanted to.
  3. “Per Wickersham, Payton "loved" Williams's arm at USC, but "worried a little about his processing speed" and saw "too many easy completions left on the field, open receivers that Williams fails to spot quickly." Payton has a formula that weighs negative plays, which Williams had a higher number on than either Nix or No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels. Additionally, Wickersham detailed that Payton questioned how Williams would handle failure.“
  4. I am still nervous when I hear these reports that Caleb still looks uncomfortable in the pocket and is struggling to make quick reads and get the ball out. Isn’t that QB101 stuff?
  5. The Cubs have let players try to work through injuries before and it’s bitten them. Tucker’s first month with his injured fire was a great month for him, so who knows what to think?
  6. As much as I want to put most of this on Jed (some of this is his fault), I don’t know if you can do anything if your top 4 hitters all stop hitting and the Brewers play at a historic pace. Would I have liked bigger moves at the deadline? Yes, but our best hitters just have to hit and they aren’t.
  7. We can say we wished Hoyer got us more pitching, but the pitching has been fine. It’s the hitting that is the problem and the guy we were going to bench (Shaw) for Suarez is our only good hitter.
  8. PCA has been brutal, especially against lefties. Berti had the base stolen, just one of those flukey things where his hand momentarily jumped off the base. That’s not Counsell’s fault.
  9. He does some really smart and really dumb things. He just has to learn from them.
  10. Definitely needs driveline
  11. I would love to be in the division with the Cubs. You have a team that makes gobs of money but won’t spend, they don’t even bother bidding for the high-end free agents, they think their minor leaguers will contribute more than they ever will, and they almost never pull off big deadline deals. The Brewers gotta be laughing so hard.
  12. “There just weren’t enough quality starters on the market, so we went for the cheap one with a recent velocity dip.” -Carter Hawkins
