  1. DeRosa for Peavy (essentially) is an upgrade. He is a major league top ten pitcher.
  2. Leadoff is Soriano's best position because that is where he is best suited. Leadoff is not where Miles is best suited. That's my point. ...position in the batting order. Every manager positions his batting order a certain way. Can we get back to something we all agree on - Murph knows about as much about baseball as I do.
  3. Position in the batting order, something everyone but you must have known in context.

  5. I don't think anyone imagined him leading off for the Cubs One person did. Sorry. No one who really knows baseball would.

  7. This might make you feel better: http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=3766
  8. For some reason though, Murph wins the English-speaking 12-2 radio slot consistently. There are more meatheads in Chicago than I thought.
  9. He said that Milton is a terrible defender, but isn't Bradley pretty decent? Yeah Murph, San Diego is going to literally give us Peavy for a bag of balls. But this is the same guy that wanted Lee to lead off last year.
  10. A source says that in 2010 the NFL will play the Pro-Bowl the week prior to the Super Bowl in Miami. I have mixed feelings towards this. Yes the Pro Bowl is anticlimactic, but what players scheduled to play in the Super Bowl are going to play in the Pro Bowl and risk injury? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3798734
  11. The 2005 defense was the best they had under Lovie (12.3 ppg if I remember correctly). 2006 might have been better, but injuries cut down their potential.
  12. He wasn't the problem
  13. I would have relieved Phillips of his duties after trying to send out the punting team on the 4th and inches play down over 20 points.
  14. Is it possible that he gets better at throwing the deep ball or is this just what Kyle will be? You can get a deep threat, but if you can't throw it to him, he will be useless. I was a little surprised at the poor decision-making that Kyle has showcased lately. I thought he at least had that going for him (i.e. not running for the first down yesterday).
  15. Pennington had success with his original team, at least as much as he's had so far this year. In 2002 he had a better statistical year with a rating a over 100. I didn't know he was that good.
  16. Well now every race is complaining. The Bears spent a fortune on their defense (more money as a % of team payroll is allocated toward their defense than any other tam other than the Ravens) and they have nothing to show for it.
  17. Frankly, Tommie pisses me the hell off. He takes a lot of plays/games off. I don't know if he's a lazy person overall, but I think he's a lazy football player a lot of the time. He has his moments without a doubt. This is one of those "perception" things, and completely not proveable, and maybe way off base, but that's the impression I'm getting. Last year and this year, he just seems disinterested. Maybe, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was injured.
  18. A healthy Tommie Harris changes everything. When he is on, this is a top-10 defense. I was hoping for more form him this year.
  19. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-29-haugh-bears-texans-chicagdec29,0,2577977.column Lovie says the team was close and only a few changes need to be made. But they were close to the playoffs, and not close to doing anything in the playoffs. When you look at the stats, Lovie is just dead wrong. Lovie does absolutely nothing for me as a coach. Maybe he gets the most out of his players, but any good coach does this. That does not set him apart.
  20. No, not true. Relying on turnovers in this scheme is simply relying on athletes making things happen. It is essentially playing for luck. It is not outscheming or outcoaching the opposition. Hmm, funny how that luck keeps happening for the Bears more than any other team. Almost as if they were coached to go for the ball... You dont think every teamn in the NFL is coached to go for the ball? The fact that the Bears have been getting turnovers is more on the players than being coached to go for the ball. Every damn teamn in the NFL wants turnovers and is told to go for the ball. Id like to see your defense of Lovie on his personnel decisions that I laid out on page 1. Those are all very big reasons why Lovie should be fired, and is not a very good head coach. When Lovie got here, he really made an effort to encourage guys to strip the ball out. Tillman does this as well as anyone. The flipside is that you forget to tackle.
  21. Would the Jets have been better off with Pennington this year?
  22. Very true, very true. Actually, I saw on ESPN yesterday that Favre wasn't exactly thrilled with playing under Mangini. i wonder how thrilled mangini was to have a veteran quarterback putting up a qb rating in the bottom third of the nfl and throwing 4 more INTs than anyone in the league. But, that QB is Brett Favre and he made the Pro Bowl . . . With the Chargers making the playoffs, Rivers should have been a Prow-Bowler. Pro-Bowl balloting should wait until the regular season is over.
  23. Urlacher didn't lose his step all at once. He has been getting slower the last two seasons (plus the bad back) which is why Angelo should not have flinched when Urlacher demanded a new contract. The scheme makes it so that he doesn't take part in as many spectacular plays though.
