This could be the lowest point in Tiger's PGA Tour career (and he is still the #1 player in the world!). Unfortunately there is no cut at the WGC Firestone and he has to play all four rounds. The lowlights today: - He had a short chip and it rolled down a hill right back to him - He had a short approach shot that he must have hit 40 yards left of the hole. He then proceeded to go up to the ball very quickly with no practice swing and hit a 40 yard wedge halfway to the hole. He really didn't even try. It was John Daly-esque. If Phil lands in the top 4 tomorrow, he will be the number one player in the world. The thing with Tiger is that he doesn't seem to be getting better, but worse. I think they will. Lovie knows his job is on the line and he can't afford not to have an open competition. If Wooten or Idonije is better, they will play. I really don't like Anderson as an every down player. He is really only a 3rd down and medium or long DE. He is terrible against the run because of his stupid spin move that he uses constantly.

Because no one believes that Favre would commit this early and you really can't trust anything Favre says. Two preseason games haven't occurred yet and it is the first week of training camp. Rumor has it that last Monday the Vikings insisted Favre tell them if he is going to play this year. Favre got mad and said no and texted a few of his teammates in return. The Vikings got nervous and upped his salary and probably told the players who did receive the text not to really admit it.

Rolle isn't too much better than Chris Harris. I don't know if you can really argue that the Bears structured Peppers' contract beautifully when they weakened the other side of the defensive line by dumping Alex Brown's contract in order to pay for Peppers.

i know that arkush hates the bears and whatever they do is the wrong thing. Arkush is awful. He's so clearly bitter at the Bears, and he doesn't even attempt to hide it. I really don't think he is bitter. A person can sound bitter when it is their job to talk and write and interact with a team that consistently makes poor moves. He seems pretty fair to me.

I heard Hub Arkush mention this, but I never posted it. He said the Bears would have been better off with Aaron Kampman and Antron Rolle for the money that they spent on Peppers. Maybe they could have kept Alex Brown too. Does anyone know if the money the Bears spent on Peppers is more than what would have been spent on Kampman, Rolle, and Brown (assuming the Bears paid what those guys are getting this year)?

Maybe. But it's not like a WR getting seperation is a rare occurence. The Bears are going to see Sidney Rice twice, Greg Jennings twice, Calvin Johnson twice, Randy Moss and others. They are going to get seperation a lot. The key is minimizing the damage done when a WR seperates and getting to the QB to not allow him to take advantage of it. Knox, Hester, and Aromashodu should be able to seperate with their speed, and it's a good sign that they are able to do it in practice. I just don't see how anything said this early on really means much of anything. So far the offensive line is looking terrible and that is a cause for concern even if it is the preseason.

True, but the Bears do have some of the best straight line speed in the league with Knox and Hester.

Good. Make him the head coach too. It really is unbelievable that Jerry didn't address the offensive line this offseason. You can't get away with a poor line.

I don't remember this, but Siefert has an article on espn.com where he says Favre texted the players at the start of training camp last year telling him he was done. Two weeks later he was in camp. Favre is following last year's schedule closely. He just needs to feel loved. How great would be it Childress just said "enough with Favre."

Brett is mad everyone thinks he is coming back when he wants it to be a 'surprise.' He hates it that we all know he loves the spotlight. He just wants more attention and this is his way of doing it. He will be back this year.

The Blackhawks lost money last year, even after all their success. Season tickets are going up 20% as a result. Rocky had to borrow money from the Wirtz corportion just to pay the bills at times. I just don't see them much worse than .500. With a bad o-line, bad receivers, bad linebackers, bad d-line, bad running backs, and bad safeties the Bears were 7-9. This team is much improved, even if heir record won't show it.

While the Bears do have a ton of question marks going into the season, I don't think many aspects of their team have regressed. The coaching is a push. I don't trust Marinelli as a defensive coordinator cause he has never done it before and Martz's system might not fit the team. But Tice was a great hire and brings results. Lovie is not going to feel out players but will make quicker roster moves since his job is on the line. The offensive line should be better now that Olin has had surgery. Williams will be at LT, his natural position, for the entire season. And now the Bears have a full-time blocking TE. The receivers will be marginally better if Aromoshadu steps it up. The running game is improved with Taylor who could be the starter. Cutler can't get any worse. The TEs will be the same. The defensive line is only slightly better in my opinion because Brown was let go. Peppers will allow the defense not to blitz as much, no matter what Lovie said today (he said they will blitz MORE now that Peppers is where - why?). Tommie Harris, for the first time in three years, is going to practice everyday in training camp and looks to be in his best health in years. He is probably the key to the defense. The linebacking crew could be very good if they stay healthy. I have been waiting the last two stinking years to see what Pisa will do here. The safeties have been strongly upgraded. From what I have beard, Major Wright won't start. True or is it a training camp battle? Your third round draft pick has to start when your safeties were absolutely terrible last year. The corners will be just as good as last year which is a touch under average. Gould has a substandard year as far as Gould's standards go. I expect the old Robbie. Maynard is Maynard. Devin has to have a huge year for the special teams. He has to break a few. The Bears are much improved from last year, but they are still a borderline playoff team if most things go right because the division is killer. I think they go 8-8 and Lovie and his staff are fired. Cowher is hired in the offseason.

Maybe so (but do four years as a part time-receiver and returner really ware you down), but I still think he is most valuable to the team taking the kicks and punts. He needs to break just one or two and guys will kick the ball out or away from him giving the Bears great field position. Knox can do everything Hester does as a receiver even better. There really is no need for him there. Aromoshadu is the tall threat. Knox is the speed threat. Bennett is the possession guy. Devin is the fourth receiver who will barely get used and certainly won't lose his speed being on the field a few plays a game.
