  1. The Bears have to keep saying he is learning to become a receiver when he screws up constantly because for some stupid reason Angelo gave Hester a new contract mostly predicated on the fact that he would become at least a number two receiver. I think he knows the plays, he just doesn't have the offensive skills it takes to get open, find holes, and so forth. He just isn't smart and he doesn't have great hands and is afraid to go over the middle and get hammered. I don't care how good Daniel Manning is, Hester is best used taking all the returns and kickoffs. The Bears had the best field position in the NFL when Hester had those two great years. This offense would thrive on that. What a weapon Hester used to be. Lovie screwed up big time.
  2. Boers and Bernstein have pointed out that last year the receivers weren't in the right spots many times and Cutler wound up throwing INTs that weren't his fault. This year, Martz's offense even more so expects guys to be in the right place and the ball be thrown their way even before the cuts are made. I don't think Martz is going to change because the Bear receivers are poor route runners.
  3. "This is atypical," Niemi's agent, Bill Zito, said Tuesday. "It's just about the cap; it's cap management. No one ever said, 'Antti doesn't deserve this or he's not good enough' or anything like that." How much cap space do the Hawks have? Do they have $3 million? If not, why would Niemi even bother asking for that?
  4. Poor Carson Palmer. I wonder if TO will want to move in with him too.
  5. Outside of Orton, how many bad QBs have good W/L records? Orton's record is already beginning to crumble. In the end, he will be sub .500. Your sins find you out.
  6. Archie has a career QB rating of 67. He finished with 125 touchdowns and 173 interceptions. His record as a starter was 35–101–3 (26.3%), the worst in NFL history among QB's with at least 100 starts. He just wasn't that good (although I admit never saw him play).
  7. Do they want $ or the coach back? hasn't the relationship between Fisher and the stloen coach hurt their relationship so that the USC coach wouldn't even want to come back? He would be looked at as traitor by the Titans.
  8. As we learned more about the steroid era, many have noted that hitters and pitchers were both juicing. But now that most steroids seem to be out of the game, pitchers are having their best years (especially 2010) - possibly due to the lack of roided hitters. Were fewer pitchers juicing than we thought? Was there a breakdown on the Mitchell report of how many pitchers vs. how many hitters were juicing in relation to how many hitters and pitchers there are in the league?
  9. Sam Smith agrees with you. http://blogs.bulls.com/2010/07/it-seems-doubtful-the-bulls-have-mcgrady-in-their-future/
  10. What a silly comparison. Asik and Gibson vs. a guy was a game-changing starter. Again, he can talk all he wants; he has to back it up. I was responding your earlier post where you said "Any player's goal should be to be a starter. It's asinine to expect someone to say otherwise." Unfortunately you just called yourself asinine.
  11. Those games were pretty bad. The Baltimore game was along the lines of Grossman's bad games. But Rex had 5 games worse than Cutler's SF game, QB rating wise. Grossman had a better receivers, better backs, and a better offensive line. Cutler did have some terrible games, but I think the team around him last year was far worse. The blocking TE might be exactly what the doctor ordered. And a receiver taller that 6'2" with Aromashadu will help.
  12. I just don't understand those who have no problem with any player publicly declaring that they want to start. How does Asik or Gibson mentioning this help the team?
  13. McGrady coming to the Bulls and insisting on a starting role outweighs anything good he has left skills wise. And he doesn't have much left we now realize. The Bulls have Korver - a slow moving 2 who can't create, can't play D, but can still shoot. McGrady won't allow himself to be the third option.
  14. But the kicker is that he doesn't believe he is the same player he was in NY. McGrady has to ask himself why a guy who is only 31 (which is not too old) and used to be an elite player can't find a spot on any NBA bench, even at a fairly cheap price. He doesn't realize what he has left. He can't find it in himself to admit that he is not a starter anymore. He just doesn't see it and can't evaluate himself properly.
  15. 30 what better? 30 wins? He ceratinly can't believe that. Or maybe he just sucks at math and doesn't realize that would put them at 71 wins. Or maybe he thinks he would bring them up to a .530 winning %. Or maybe he has no idea what he is talking about. That makes perfect sense.
  16. Why would I want a washed up, injured veteran who doesn't have starter ability anymore thinking that he should be a starter for a team that has two players slotted ahead of him? How does believing a lie help the team? I'm all for TMac knowing his role and coming to the Bulls. Unfortunately he doesn't know his role. Dan Bernstein made a good point today. Name one wing player who has had microfracture surgery surgery or major knee surgery who ever came to close to being his old self? McGrady has to know his role or at least keep it to himself. He didn't say that. The quote was already posted on this page. I'm not sure how you can gather that he's saying that he should be a starter. I am inferring, but it is a fair inference. By "prove" mean means he has to prove it to the team. In his mind, McGrady has already proven it to himself. 1. McGrady said that if he was the type of player he was in New York, he shouldn't be a starter. 2. McGrady clearly thinks he is better than the type of player he was in New York. 3. Therefore McGrady thinks he should be a starter. He clearly said that since he is not the type of player he was in New York he would have a problem coming off the bench. He was just on the news and said that "the Bulls are a .500 team without me and Boozer." No, they are a .500 team without Boozer. They are a .500 team with you and without Boozer.
  17. Do people realize that starting record is a poor way to evaluate QB play? Not that he didn't suck last year, but if that's what you're getting at, then say that. How many good QBs have poor W/L records? The QB is arguably the single most important position in sports and dictates W/L record more than anything else in football.
  19. It might help to actually show what you're talking about. We aren't ready/listening along with you. Im sure hes talking about the quotes from TMac posted earlier in the thread. TMac had the audacity to say if he signed with the Bulls he would have to come to camp and prove hes a starter, can you believe that jerk? Man what a prick he is huh.......... TMac coming in and after training camp telling everyone that he thinks he deserves to be a starter and that a rookie head coach doesn't know how to coach or choose starters would not be a good thing for this team or any team for that matter. TMac is not a starter right now because he is at the end of his career after microfacture surgery. TMac said that if was played like he did for the Knicks he would be a bench player, but he clearly said that he is a better player than he was last year and is a starter. He doesn't fit with Thibodeau who likes his players to play defense. TMac has never played defense in his life.
  20. TMac should close is mouth if he ever wants to be in the NBA again. The Bulls have to think less of him after his most recent comments. The Bulls don't need his attitude, especially with a rookie coach. McGrady just might have talked himself out of the only offer he was going to get. Even Vinny didn't like him.
  21. Seconded. I am actuallu going to watch this one.
  22. He's like a half-step worse than Hendry. That's because the World Series trophy he is carrying is slowing him down.
  23. Hendry is an average GM. The problem is that he just had a lot of money at his disposal. Most other GMs would have made the same moves. And if you have a ton of money to throw around and your moves look like crap in the end, the poor result is mangified. As the others have said, the Cubs deserve a better than average GM. And average GMs rarely win championships.
  24. Dan Bernstein said that Hendry could be trying to tell Ricketts that some of his poor signings were not really his decisions, but were the Tribune Company's. He had little say, so his job should be saved. Is Hendry really saying that? Would he try to pull that one past Tom? Obviously Kenney would have to hear about that and refute it.
  25. It is interesting that some people say that the Cubs had injuries (Ramirez) or players unable to play (Zambrano) this year so Hendry should not be fired. Is that an excuse? Well look at the Braves. Jurrjens, Saito, Chipper, Heyward, McClouth, and Diaz have all missed significant time. And they had a 9 game losing. Injuries are not an excuse most of the time.
