  1. You do if your top player is LeBron, Kobe, or Wade. Rose is not the type of player who will be the man on a championship winning team. He is a great player, but not good enough to do that.
  2. I agree. I think he was too timid to call up LeBron. It's just not his personality. I don't think he didn't want to give up the spotlight here in Chicago because he has never even sought to be the king of Chicago. How is Corey Brewer's defense? I don't know. But I know RONNIE Brewer (the newest Chicago Bull) plays wonderful defense. Wow I totally had the wrong person.

  4. No one seemed to bring that stuff up before LeBron signed. Did I just forget about it, or was it well publicized that the Bulls offered Izzo a contract before Cleveland did?
  5. I'm still unconvinced that Rose is an alpha male leader. Deng is really not a three point shooter. He has never put up more than 2 a game on average in his career. But it wouldn't hurt to be in the gym working on that with Rose this summer.
  6. Carreer starts when Tiger used his Scotty Cameron 2: 186 Career wins when Tiger used his Scotty Cameron 2: 86 It will be interesting to see if Tiger keeps the Nike putter in his bag after this tournament. John Daly has a dumbfounding swing. I have never seen a guy who overswings like he does control his shots. On his backswing, Daly's shaft almost rests on his back for a second ( :D ). But he was very accurate with his short stuff today.
  7. Alas, no. The cap ceiling is a hard cap. You can't even violate it and pay a luxury tax (I think the Hawks would have done that to keep the team together). Think about that 180 turn from Bill Wirtz to Rocky Wirtz. I don't know why they went from no cap to a hard cap all at once. Something like Bird rules would have been nice, at least for the Blackhawks.
  8. There isn't anything like Bird rules in the NHL is there?
  9. http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/basket_1992/ Charles Barkley is the greatest player to never win a ring. I'd put Karl Malone right up there too.
  10. But if he stayed with Cleveland and he never won a championship, wouldn't his fame take a good hit? There's risk that he wouldn't win no matter where he went. He'd still be an amazing player wherever he went and he'd be THE guy on that team...except if he went to the Heat. Obviously, he still has a ton of talent, but his role is potentially going to change drastically, and this is already being looked at as clearly being Wade's team. He must have realized that would have happened, and that's what's so lame about it. He basically weighed all of his options and decided, "yeah, I'm cool with being the second in command." I don't think LeBron is merely cool with it, I think that is what he wanted. He wants all of the good aspects of being the man without actually being the man. LeBron said that he is tired of pouring in 30 a game and carrying the team. But "the chosen one" should never say things like that.
  11. Since this is the only time I have been right in a while, I do have to admit that I called the game and how the NL would win.
  12. That splitter by Valverde was nasty. How do you lay off that as a .255 hitter?
  13. But if he stayed with Cleveland and he never won a championship, wouldn't his fame take a good hit? That's why Chicago was the perfect situation - he could have won and been the man. In Miami I don't see him doing both.
  14. Bob Costas is pretty good Does he do MLB Network games?
  15. He might be the biggest star on the planet, but that stardom could diminish if you aren't even the biggest star on your team. LeBron has got a ton of press, but a lot of it has been bad.
  16. I see your point. If you want to bring in Marty Turco, that's fine. Not sure if he will be any cheaper than Niemi who I think will bring in the most bang for the buck which is a concern with the Hawks salary cap troubles. I just don't want to go back to Huet. Hjalmarson does move the puck up the ice well. So does Campbell. The Hawks had a difficult time doing that in the Nashville series which is why getting rid of Campbell might not be the best idea.
  17. stupid? you know, i could have easily called the stuff you said stupid, but i didn't. HUET IS BEING SENT DOWN AND WONT BE OUR GOALIE NEXT YEAR. seriously, go on capgeek and take 2 minutes to look at the roster and it's completely obvious he's being sent down. this is njot an issue. oh, and Niemi didn't have the 4th best save percentage in the NHL. he wasn't even close. he was tied for 19th, right behind MARTY TURCO http://espn.go.com/nhl/statistics/player/_/stat/goaltending/sort/savePct/year/2010/seasontype/2 edit: and btw, hjalmarsson is not our 4th best d-man. he's third, and would be second on most teams. I meant goals against average. So if you don't care for Niemi, who is the Hawks goalie next year? Any way you cut it, getting rid of Niemi because of your fourth best defenseman is hockey stupid when you don't have a better option. The Hawks had one player in the top 10 in the NHL in points (8th with Kane) last year. He is a star, not a superstar. So is Toews. Very good players, not superstars. But there is a very good chance that I am hockey stupid too.
  18. Yes I genuinely do wonder if they will send Huet down. It's a fair question that the administration hasn't answered yet. The way Bowman has been handing the offseason, nothing would surprise me. Niemi is not an average goalie. He was fourth in the NHL in save percentage last year and was stellar in the playoffs. You are hockey stupid if you think arguably the most important position in professional sports is less important than your fourth-best defenseman. Have fun with Huet as your full-time goalie next year. You don't compete without your fourth-best defender? Hahahahhaha. Not saying he isn't important, but he sure as heck isn't more important than Niemi. Toews and Kane are stars, not superstars.
  19. Then they would be charging them with murder when they line it right back to their pitching coach, but it would be entertaining He said let them use aluminum bats, not "get rid of the L screen." Also, I've never seen anybody hit a ball back into the screen. Why would they do it with an aluminum bat? I was waiting for Nick Swisher to crush one into those cameras sitting right next to home plate.
  20. Are there any good national teams you guys like?
  21. Never knew there were 2 All-Star games in the late 50s and early 60s. How come?
  22. No not really. Pat is good but not that good.
  23. So it looks like the NL is only wearing the super helmets.
  24. What kind of helmets are they wearing? The super helmets that you wear if you get plunked in the head and want to keep from getting injured again?
