Why didn't he throw over then? In short, an abundance of caution. There were zero outs, he's already moving towards first, he's left handed so he has to wheel around completely one way or another, basically the same reason every 10 year old is trained to go to 1st in that situation. Based on Wilson's grasp of physics, I'm assuming he was thinking that the ball would have carried Lester to 3B if he had just let it take him. No. The infield is flat. Gravity would have had no effect. But seriously, the runner was 1/3 of the way to 3B. Lester had plenty of time.

Trying to push Fowler to 3B with no outs and the heart of the order coming up is the antithesis of what Maddon was supposed to bring, isn't it?

I enjoy him. I understand perfectly well that he's largely an act. A guy that's bought into his own "character", and believes in his own self importance. But he also is very good at what he does. As a sports talk show host, he's entertaining, makes strong, opinion based arguments (though he argues those opinions are factual often times), and generally has pretty solid reasoning even as he delivers them in his "way". I'm perfectly understanding of those that dislike the show. But I'm also perfectly understanding of those that do. And clearly there's plenty that do, as B&B broke into the top 10 shows in town this year. Top 10 sports talk radio show or radio show in general ? Top 10 radio in Chicago. Pretty much agree with everything David said. B/B are in my opinion a little harder to listen to than they were 5 years ago, but they are still the best around. I still wonder if this is the last we've heard on the story. What Dan tweeted two days ago was tame compared to what he said about Brittney Griner and a number of other women. If a few female sports blogs do their research like some said they would, the heat could get turned up.

What did Dan say about McDonald that women cheered him on? Didn't he basically say Pace is not trying to bring in boy scouts even as he looked over the arrest records and said Mcdonald raped a woman? That its ok to bring rapists over if you are close to winning? I know Terry said the latter, but Dan didn't seem to disagree.

I love the "Why get cheap, good players if you aren't going to be good for three years?" line Terry keeps dropping. But I just don't think you can be as sanctimonious as B/B and consider yourselves the last bastion of sports journalistic morality and also just say "Well Pace isn't trying to raise my kids."
