    He better have finished that statement with “because I didn’t let them.” I was OK with rust over injuries in the preseason. But the 3rd down playcalling was inexcuseable lack of preseason reps or not.

    Packers 0-111 when entering 4th quarter down by 17. Until today. Even Fox and Trestman won their openers in Lambeau.

    Agreed. Nagy’s playcalling was awful. If we wanted conservative we would have kept Fox. Very disappointing. Basically 15 scripted plays and Mack almost carried a garbage team to a win but our high profile CB blew the game He was conservative at the wrong times and risky at the wrong times. Tried to be cute. Called this game like a preseason game. Fuller has his worst game ever and Trubisky’s passes had little touch. Throws a bad deep ball. Mack was quiet in the second half with a Rodgers that couldn’t move. Much to work on.

    Umpire should not have penalized Serena for getting advice during a Grand Slam, but he’s the Joe West of tennis chair umpires. Rafa has had issues with him too. It’s not a sexist issue. And Serena was getting beaten pretty soundly at the time anyway.

    Hicks was being interviewed by the Green Bay press yesterday over the phone. Said that no one GB has can block Mack. Then you hear Mack laughing in the background. Nice! The Bears got Mack because the Raiders thought that the Bears would give them higher picks than the Packers or Rams would bring. Probably true, but I’m happy that another team devalued the Bears. Did the Jets actually offer two #1s because I’d wager the Jets will be far worse than the Bears the next two years and their picks would be higher.

    You said Trubisky would be the best non-Rodgers QB in the NFC North by a large margin. He’d have to have an over 100 rating with 35 TDs and 10 INTs. Yeah, I’ll take that bet.

    Thrilho, Washington and Detroit combined have had well-below average defenses the last few years. I believe Washington had just one averagish defense the last three years. Hard to hold a QB’s record against him with defenses like they’ve had when they’ve put up really good numbers on their own. I hope Trubisky has a great year and he may well have one, but you can’t expect him to beat the kind of numbers that Stafford and Cousins have put up with so little work to go off.

    I thought Mike Florio was smarter than that. I guess he was just writing a contrarian article because everyone else loves the trade. Florio forgot that you can turn around a team quickly in the NFL and you never know if another team would have traded for Mack between now and next year. The Jets probably would have got Mack this weekend if the Bears decided to wait. You only make a move like this if it guarantees a Super Bowl this year? No.

    some national media guys have them as a team on the rise but you're right they're being slept on big time reminds me of going into the 2015 cubs season still good value on them in vegas last i checked. i might place some small bets on those long odds for the hell of it. Bears went from 100-1 odds to 60-1 odds to win the Super Bowl with the Mack trade

    Unless we are predicting how a player will perform with little NFL experience We had an entire season to watch him. 3/4 of a season. That's little NFL experience in my book. I'm optimistic because he has better coaching and better weapons around him, but we don't know how good Mitch can be because we haven't seen him on the field with many playmakers.

    Cousins and Stafford had on average 97 QB ratings the last 3 years with a 3:1 TD to INT rate (85:30) while throwing for about 4,500 yards per season. Trubisky is not better than that by a large margin.

    Thrilho, the Bears are a playoff contender, but I don’t see them being better than the Vikings with an unproven QB like Trubisky. Rodgers is too good to have them automatically vault past the Packers. Trubisky is the wild card and an unknown and he’s the most important position on the team. Things are looking great for the Bears and you gotta be hopeful. Worst case team is 9-7 if healthy, but let’s see how Mitch is with offensive weapons.

    He’s gotta play game 1. A veteran who knows the 3-4. Just tell him to maul Rodgers. Don’t need to do much else.

    You can turn around a team quickly in the NFL. Like in a year. Especially with moves like this. Bears can win now. At the very least they are playoff contenders.

    Will they though? Only thing more is either 2 firsts or a 1st and 2nd in 2019. A team like Green Bay MIGHT give up the latter, because they have 2 firsts in 2019. But the Raiders don't have much leverage at this point. Mack probably won't sit out the entire season, but as of now it's a threat. The Raiders could face a decision of no Mack + no pick vs. no Mack but with draft picks. It’s a seller’s market for the kind of talent Mack has. How many weeks of practice will Mack need to start week 1? One week?
