  1. Not sure what he's going on about. Scherzer, Bauer, and Skaggs were each part of blockbuster trades. And it's not like Arizona fared poorly. Scherzer brought back 3 stellar years of Ian Kennedy and Edwin Jackson (still a valuable commodity at the time. Bauer brought back Didi Gregarious. As for Upton, I believe it was $ based, and they got a solid player return in Delgado, Prado, and Spruill. All of those trades looked bad at the time and look worse now. Didi Gregorious sucks and always did. The diamondbacks traded Bauer because they thought he was a weirdo. They traded Upton because he wasn't gritty enough.
  2. Can you find yourself in this photo? This is pretty cool. http://gigapixel.panoramas.com/stanleycup/2015/
  3. Did you say Joey Gallo? No, its Joey Callo... with a C. Joey Gallo is dead.
  4. I am pretty sure there is a limit on 401k contributions of 18,000 a year.
  5. Wasn't on the refs, the Bulls went scoreless for 8 minutes in the 3rd quarter like they've done so often under Thibodeau and it cost them a win and probably the series. Didn't say the bulls are blameless, just saying that last play was BS. I never really thought the bulls had much of a chance this series. I always know in the back of my mind they have way too many times where they can't score (or even get quality shots at times). I really thought they had to win both in Chicago to win this series. Cleveland didn't play all that well today and the bulls still didn't take advantage.
  6. That review was bs... I was thinking if anything there should be no time on the clock. The ball never went out until much after 0.8 seconds. The refs blew their whistle way too early, then gave them even more time.
  7. This is the second time recently I have turned it over to the Cardinals trying to close it in the 9th with either the tying or winning run at the plate only to see Rosenthal get strike calls for balls 6 inches to a foot off the plate to end the rally.
  8. I was a little worried about the strikeouts, but he just looks/acts so calm and collected up there, like he's been up forever. It's like he just had to get that first game done and then his system rebooted and he downloaded the right drivers and everything works fine now. Maybe it is just his natural facial expression, but there have been a few at bats (in big situations where I am really nervous) where when they show the close up of him from the side as he digs in, he has a small smile on his face... Like he is just enjoying the moment, and I immediately calm down. So different than the first day where it seemed like he was pressing.

  10. I remember right after they won in 2005, I was watching WGN News and out of two fans they got reactions from during the opening segment, the second said,"I'm just so happy we did it before the cubs." I had actually rooted for them in that series because of how much I hated those Astro teams and immediately regretted it because of that guy.
  11. I think literally every single time there was a ball that went out of bounds and it was iffy at best the refs called it for duke. Finally when one went to replay I figured they had to reverse it, but nope. Turning point seemed to be when they called the block on Wisconsin (should have been a charge on Winslow), then seemingly a play or two later Jones acted like he was shot in the chest on minimal contact on the other end and got the charge call on wisconsin. I really hate how much college refs affect games. Plus Wisconsin seemed gassed at the end.
  12. ehhh... 1 and 2 count and the pitch was right near the low/outside corner. I don't know if that was the plan going in.
  13. I would trade all baseball replay for robot umpires on balls and strikes.

  15. Right..and Rose is a stubborn dude with people that he trusts telling him to be cautious. But being cautious has caused him to play 1 game in 3 postseasons and now he's hurt and in jeopardy is missing a 4th. If there was ever a point where he changed his injury recovery mindset, it would be now. On the other hand, if there is any shot of Rose privately balking at coming back, the Bulls could easily leak his expected timetable for a return to the press to put more pressure on him. It didn't work 2 years ago but the pressure should be even higher now considering the time he's missed, the examples of his peers having a very similar surgery and coming back quick, and the fact that his star is not as bright as it was back then. While I agree with all of this and it gives me some hope that he might see it this way as well, since it is Rose, I could see him digging in his heels even farther with his previous stances about being super cautious. Even though at this point, I think the best we can hope for in future seasons is that his injury will come with enough time to get back for the playoffs--not that he won't suffer an injury at all. I just doubt he sees it that way. I feel like if anyone questions him about this, he will just get extra stubborn and say something really stupid about his future career or life.
  16. Yes they are. You can just park right around the practice fields and walk around. The practice fields are right next to the new stadium. I will say the practices used to be much more open and fan friendly though. At their old facility, you were able to walk right between each of the 4 practice fields. You could stand right behind the chainlink fence behind homeplate and be a few feet away from batting/fielding practices. If something or someone was more interesting on another field, you could be there in about 5 seconds. They even had mini-bleachers for fans to sit on and a small concession stand. When players changed fields, they literally walked right by you. I honestly liked going to the practices more than games. Now, the fields are all enclosed to where you have to walk around the outfields to get from one to the other. It is harder to tell which players are on a farther field, so you may take the longer walk over only to realize no one important is currently over there. You also can't get right up behind home plate. You have to stand at a distance that would be like having seats in short right field. Every year I make the trip out for practice on President's Day and I remember being a little disappointed last year, but only because I remember every other year of being so much closer.
  17. On the drive home today I was listening to local Arizona sports radio. Mike Jurecki, who is probably the main Cardinals insider said that he has heard that if Bowles gets a HC job, he will most likely be bringing Greg Roman on as his offensive coordinator.
  18. I think the absolute dumpster fire our defense has been the past two years makes people hold lovie in a brighter light than maybe they thought when he was here. It wasn't like we were top 10 every single year or anything. The year before peppers I believe we were bottom third (in points allowed at least). The year before that they were 16th. Peppers came in and was an absolute beast who singlehandedly won games for us that first year and took the defense up to near the top. I think the next year the bears were back to middle of the pack. But before then, I feel like many people wanted lovie gone. 3rd and long conversions by the opposing team were a running joke. I remember discussions for years about how long would it take if we made the switch to a 3-4. I think many people thought the Tampa-2 had lost some effectiveness, especially when you are going up against QB's like Rodgers who are so accurate that bend but don't break doesn't matter because he never turns the ball over (unlike Favre who Lovie did have a lot of success against).
  19. Is this some hurt feeling [expletive] because he turned us down last time? Dumb. The other way around, more likely. DeCosta doesn't want to work for a [expletive]. yeah, this was from a tribune article 3 years ago:
  20. Well lets fix that. Jesus, even when philips isn't allowed to screw things up, he will screw them up.
  21. Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the cowboys. I think the word is that this year, he was given more of a voice in the draft.
