  1. Hopefully Volstad can work out whatever has been going on there, or Travis Wood makes him just a memory.
  2. Since he has inspired my two user names here (KKvs.G doesn't count!) I guess I have to say that I do possess this love towards Kerry Wood. Would not want to see his number retired as a Cub. What is that? Wood at his best was awesome, yes, but just no to that.
  3. The easily/eagerly offended are rarely actually offended. It's mostly using a moment in time to further a connected cause. Even if I'm some caaaaaarazy out there shock jock you're my entire audience here.
  4. Wouldn't want to be her on the car ride home, eh? EH? ... Somebody get rid of this idiot. Who wouldn't love to see the easily and eagerly offended catered to once again? In this case probably everyone.

  6. Holy crap, has that walk been confirmed? Scott at least picking up the K's and not delivering the walks. When do these guys throw more than 3 IP? Where might he go after exst is over?
  7. Now that was a curveball of doom Early Kerry's curveball was the epitome of curveball of doom. Still the best single game performance I've ever seen, and that's the best breaking ball I've ever seen. A couple of his games in 2003 were amazing, including the one where he also hit a HR. Isn't he also known for pushing forward the pitch count management movement? He's one of the most well known cases of a HS kid made to throw a ridiculous amount of pitches. Never lived up to the overall hype, but some of those flashes were amazing. Hope he finds a way to stick in baseball or has successful in other ventures.
  8. Still think he and Jackson need the AAA ABs anyway. Wanted each to get at least a couple hundred (I was thinking 300) down in the minors.
  9. He does it all? I only am using the SC app.
  10. Magic?!? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. http://www.housefullofjays.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_2772.jpg
  11. He is. Played in the Future's Game last year, and IIRC did alright for himself.
  12. So soon with the White Sox? May Shark lay waste to their lineup!
  13. That is his advantage but he's really only 5 months younger than Almora, the other top high school position player. Both were born in 1994 (April and September). Age is a factor but eh, not a huge advantage. Ahem...Buxton Oops. League of his own?

  15. I think alot has to do with the body, he just looks like he could develop into an Arod or Miggy type body IMO....combine that with his already solid present skills, projected improvements/future skills, and the potential starts going through the roof. Just feel like guys like ARod and even Machado were in the conversation for 1-1 for a lot longer. Hell, there was probably jokes about an ARod sweepstakes. Don't really have this with Correa.
  16. Definitely hear you on that. Any idea if MLB teams use smokescreens during the draft? If not, wouldn't they start since the draft gets so much more press than it one did? I've thought about smokescreens...but I keep coming to conclude "what's the point?". There's no trade ups, i'm not really sure what the point of it would be then. I might be missing something obvious though. Just to throw out disinformation amongst the information...kind of like the news today...No point in doing it but it gets people talking and maybe some buy what someone else wants them to buy.
  17. Matt Garrioch (minorleagueball ball and MLB Prospect Guide) put up his big board today: http://mobile.minorleagueball.com/2012/5/17/3024055/2012-mlb-draft-board-5-17-12 I don't get why I'm not in on the Correa hype. OTOH the Cubs are extremely lucky to have an early pick because this draft is balls. Highlights: Zunino at 1 Appel at 11 Almora at 12 Says Correa might be the best in the draft Stroman top 5 Buxton at 6 Personally I think some of the comments are a little optimistic on players. Don't really see Fried as a low-mid 90s guy long term (OK that might not be so crazy), Dahl sticking in CF...

  19. Good for Vilma.
  20. Here's the caption for that: He gets called heady often. Ithink I bodes well. I'm a little weird so in my head I've likened his guy to a CF version of Derek Jeter, who went 6th in his draft. Fairly simple one....Up the middle HS prospects who could stick, have very strong pedigrees, show off awesome hit tools, above average everything else, and are known for their smart and aggressive play. Pay little attention to it, but basically I think Almora is a potential stud. Matt G. from minorleagueball and BB compared him to Moises Alou and expressed that he might not stick in CF long term. I disagree on the CF part of that.
  21. You know what's annoying? The Internet, beyond being able to find the '03 stats, does not remember Mark Prior. Look for an old Prior scouting report or a video clip...nothing. Lol he's like a super devastating thought to any Cub fan from that period and the Internet kind of just throws it all in perspectiv by handing out zero fucks.
  22. So I remember some liked Wei-Yin Chen this offseason. He's doing pretty well for the O's, including prolonging the Yankees' offensive slump a couple of nights ago. He hit 93 maybe 94, had consistent mechanics, showed off a good slider, OK curve (not a bringer of doom), and a decent changeup. So far: 44 IP / 39 H / 3 HR / 14 BB / 32 K / 3.41 FIP / 4.41 xFIP Quality scouting job on the part of the O's, as well as those who were on the wagon. Hopefully he keeps it up though there's a decent chance he regresses slightly.
