  1. Vogelbach+ for Dalton Pompey I say Vogelbach because Encarnacion will be a free agent after next season. Pompey isn't going to be the Blue Jays' main CFer and guys like Saunders and Revere might even be ahead of him for LF, so he should be available for the right price.
  2. Leadoff hitters can't be 6'5'', 245 lbs. It's a rule.
  3. We do have a De la Cruz who is a pitcher and a real prospect.
  4. "We are saving up every last penny to throw at Price or Greinke" is what I got from that.
  5. I'm just gonna say it: Maddon's wife is a GILF.
  6. In order of likelihood in my opinion: 1) No one 2) Baez 3) Castro 4) Soler I think the most likely is that none of the young guys get traded. I predict they'll spend heavy on pitching and go cheap in CF and also mix Bryant and/or Javy there as well. Javy could fetch something decent in a trade and there's multiple internal candidates for 2B, so that is the next most likely trade in my mind. I don't think a team will offer anything of significance for Castro and I suspect the front office would ask a ton for Soler.
  7. I would most definitely trade Baez for Teheran, and I think I'd be in favor of trading him for Ross as well. Soler, on the other hand, as disappointing as he was for pretty much the whole season, his approach/ability to lift the ball in the playoffs was enough for me to go back to being extremely hesitant to deal him.
  8. lol, Simmons has 113 defensive runs saved in less than 3.5 seasons.
  9. Even taking the pitchers out of it, I'd rather have Jackson than Span and his old man hips. Lots of core injuries with him lately, and I'd prefer to stay away.
  10. I really wish Cashner had more than just one year of control left because he would make sense as a trade candidate. I'm still hoping the Orioles go for a Baez-Gausman swap.
  11. haha the video in their first article about this with the person in tennis shoes following a person in high heels into the bathroom is hilarious
  12. I originally didn't think we'd end up with Price after the Lester deal, and was readying for a Fowler and a good but not great pitcher type offseason (which I would be happy with). However, every Chicago writer pretty much saying Fowler is a goner makes me think we're saving up and will be giving out one of the two $200 million contracts this offseason.
  13. 100%
  14. Buster Olney said in his podcast today that he hears the Cubs are "heavy, heavy, heavy favorites" to sign Price. He had Kurkjian on who did his usual thing where he's asked to make a prediction, doesn't, and instead gives a super obvious statement. He basically just said Price will get a lot of money. Nightengale was also on and said it will come down to the Cardinals, Cubs, Giants, and Dodgers. He ultimately doesn't think Price winds up with the Cubs. He said Price's preference is the Cardinals, which I had never heard before, but it's Nightengale, so he's probably the only one who has "heard" that.
  15. Mike Rizzo is Ruben Amaro, the only difference being he's had extremely good luck when it comes to the draft.
  16. Your expectations were to make the NLCS this year? Not necessarily, but they were the favorites to win it all after the NLDS and finished with 97 wins. The expectations were wrong and changed as the season went on. But it's a fluff piece to get fans excited, so whatevs.
  17. It's stupid because it follows the "year ahead of schedule" type of thinking.
  18. Is anyone else kind of grossed out by the Royals not telling him? The dude has a right to know that his [expletive] dad died, even if it means you have to switch starting pitchers.
  19. Rizzo always showed a lot of public support for Williams. Maybe he only fired him because of outside pressure and doesn't see anything wrong with hiring someone similar to him. I didn't follow their situation too closely, bit it did kind of seem like everyone BUT Rizzo wanted Williams gone.
  20. Hoyer was on the radio the other day and mentioned that he wasn't too concerned about Schwarber's outfield defense. He said something like if the series would've ended two games earlier, his defense wouldn't even be a topic, and I agree. It sounded pretty clear he'll be the primary left fielder next season. People saying he's Adam Dunn 2.0 in LF and needs to be moved to catcher immediately will be something we hear quite a bit this offseason, and it's going to get annoying.
  21. Oh yeah there are bigots on the team I'm sure, but I like that our best players - Rizzo, Bryant, Arrieta, etc - don't seem to throw religion in everyone's face every chance they get. I guess Starlin does, but he does it with cool hashtags.
  22. He kind of embarrassed himself in the nlcs, but I didn't think Schwarber was that bad in the outfield this season.
  23. I always enjoy the shots of fans engaging in a hardcore prayer.
  24. WE AREN'T GOING TO BENCH OUR BEST POSITION PLAYER
  25. This has the feeling of that first game of the Rockies series. Maybe Bryant will hit a walkoff three run homer in the 8th with just one runner on base.
