  1. Not objectively, but they're weaker than any of the other 4 teams that made the NL playoffs, and it's not close. Ehh, I think the Cubs and Pirates were the only NL teams clearly better heading into the playoffs. I wouldn't say the current form of the Cardinals or Dodgers were noticeably better teams. Heading in, I probably would've taken the Mets over every AL team besides Toronto as well. Every one of these NL teams is/was really, really good.
  2. I mean I get that we're all bitter, but the Mets aren't a weak team.
  3. Ernie shortening "postseason" to "post" shouldn't bother me as much as it does.
  4. Yeah, Christ, it's like Maddon didn't scream at them like they are a college basketball team or something.
  5. I've been in and out the past few days and haven't kept up much with these threads, but that's the second bigot reference toward Murphy I've seen. Is there a story there? Yeah, he's a homophobe Ah. Now I can hate him and feel good about it. That said, I'd be scared to listen to what someone like Jon Lester has to say about that sort of thing.

  7. deGrom's been giving up dongs, so Joe probably wanted his most powerful bench bat to hit against him. I think he prefers La Stella's contact ability for RISP situations.
  8. I'm not sure how that didn't go over the batter's eye, let alone stay in the park.
  9. http://m.mlb.com/video/v111069183/51115-kris-bryant-hits-a-tworun-homer-into-the-leftfield-bleachers-and-anthony-rizzo-follows-with-a-solo-shot-to-the-bleachers-in-right/?game_pk=414130
  10. This was probably mentioned on here already, but Waddle and Silvy used the term "dongs" yesterday. I was listening to part of the podcast thinking it was from today. Around the 8:00 mark http://espn.go.com/espnradio/chicago/play?id=13881351
  11. I don't get FS1. Did the benches clear because of the bat flip?
  12. My first thought was the Mets. But the 7-0 record came against a much worse offense than they have now, and it's hard to ignore how much better better their 3/4 starters are than the Dodgers'. The Mets would have the definite advantage in the non Lester/Arrieta games. Kershaw and Greinke are really scary, but I think I'd rather play the Dodgers.
  13. Crowd is just a little bit nervous, judging by the noise that was made on that flyball.
  14. Way to challenge with a 4 run lead. Keep the strikes coming.
  15. Hector just needs to throw 9 straight fastballs on the edge of the opposite batter's box.
  16. I so want to dong off the Mets young pitchers.
  17. lol, Peralta and Garcia the first two to face Strop. Classic.
  18. We just had a shortstop get called lazy on a national telecast, and it wasn't Castro, who instead has been getting compliments all night from these guys. Times are indeed changing.
  19. Take your Chick-fil-A love elsewhere, Wainwright.
  20. Richard and Cahill and their sinkers need to get these next 5-6 outs before we see Rondon. Everyone else terrifies me in this weather. Grimm doesn't give up a ton of dongs, but he's liable to walk a guy before making a mistake in the zone.
  21. Please get through the 6th inning. I can't handle more than 2 non-Rondon innings.
  22. Sorry Coghlan, you are no longer one of the best 8 players.
