  1. With the way Mercer was going after that, I don't blame Bryant too much there. That looked like trouble for the Pirates as the ball was coming down.
  2. I'm close to being comfortable. One more dong should do the trick.
  3. There are some relievers I like down there, but let's keep this between Arrieta and Rondon.
  4. I was pretty damn sure that one was headed for the hole.
  5. In all seriousness, I had no idea the NHL started already.
  6. That just kept on going to LCF. That might've been the first Wrigley dong of the night.
  7. keep chanting. Arrieta is eating this [expletive] up.
  8. Let's just win the division next year. This is too much to take.
  9. I was expecting Bryant to be good, but I was mostly just expecting him to slug and walk his way to 3.5-4 wins. But nope, he's pretty damn good in all facets and is essentially Trout-light (KB actually had more value on the bases and in the field than Trout this year) A lot of good stuff on that list.
  10. I just can't fathom this being the last game. It's going to be a loooooong October and offseason if we lose. Octobers when the Cubs aren't in the playoffs (so, like, every year) are super annoying because it means a full month of no Cubs games or trade rumors. When we're terrible, the break isn't AS bad because I do feel kind of icky after watching terrible baseball for six months, but it would be really hard to accept this year. I remember October 2008 and the rest of that offseason took FOREVER.
  11. Hmm, if Kyle is happy with something and I'm not, and he's also saying my argument and others like it are tiresome, it might time for me to do some self-reflection. Nah, jk, I'm gonna double-down I didn't say division winners don't deserve to be in the playoffs, but the fact that the Mets are in a better spot right now than the Pirates and Cubs because they were in the same division as a bunch of below .500 teams instead of the Cardinals seems silly, to me.
  12. they have been for a while. cardinal fans have been too. and white sox fans. and i don't think this will be the beginning of the end of anything, nor should it be. it's great the way it is. They won't touch the divisions or get rid of the 1 game, but I could see an NBA style re-seeding becoming a thing. Still two wild cards and division winners get an automatic berth, with the possibility that division winners have to be in the play-in game instead of the wild card teams. That would be absurd. Win your division and you are in. Wild card is for non division winners. I'm kind of confused as to why you're so passionate about this. Winning your division doesn't necessarily mean you are a better team or had a better season than another team from a different division. The whole "win your division, no excuses" thing seems like something an old time, meatball player would rant about right after he finishes talking about how the pitchers in his day were much tougher and weren't babied. This season is a unique case, obviously, but I could see it making MLB re-think things.

  14. I'm confused by Berry's black long sleeve under blue 3/4 sleeve look. Nice, patient day for Bryant. Had to be difficult, but good adjustment.
  15. haha, Herrera only has one AB since that homer in early September.
  16. I don't think there was a pitcher the Cubs faced all year that I was less impressed with than Josh Smith.
  17. lol, didn't know Heyman had this in him, but it's pretty great [tweet] [/tweet]
  18. That was quick. My delayed stream barely got back from commercial break.
  19. Man, this 100 RBI thing is in Bryant's head big time. That damn fly out to the wall against Ventura; he was a few feet from getting to 100 way back on Monday.
