    Russell is up to a 21.5 UZR/150 and 8 DRS at SS. He was at 9 DRS at 2B in almost twice as many innings. Pretty good at defense, that one.

    I've decided that Bryant is a much cooler version of Russell Wilson. Fortunately he doesn't shove religion down everyone's throats and isn't the main spokesperson for a [expletive] miracle water.

    If this is the lineup today against Cole, I imagine this will likely be the wild card lineup, except for Miggy/Ross.

    I still think it's funny we can just plug Bryant into CF and feel pretty good about it.

    Schwarber's throws from the outfield are very strong and accurate. That was a perfect throw.

    Rosscup stinks, hasn't been pitching well lately, and hasn't been used in many high leverage spots. I really doubt he makes it. To me, Wood and Richard are locks.

    Eh. I'm not as worried about Arrieta holding up as I was even a month ago considering how well he's been pitching and his velocity has increased from last season and even as this season has progressed. However, Arrieta, too, is about 60 innings over his career high and dealt with a shoulder injury just last season. He's in amazing shape, but that doesn't always prevent arm injuries. It's not as bad as how Prior was used, and I didn't even have much of a problem with the decision tonight, but I can certainly understand those who do.

    No doubt Bryant has surpassed 6.0 fWAR after this one.

    Castro and Rizzo were bad that year, too. Javy destroying AA was like the only fun thing to follow day-to-day in 2013. The draft turned out to be awesome, but Bryant didn't play much that year.

    We have too many good hitters right now. Need a 12-man lineup.

    I could totally see La Stella in the starting lineup in the WC game, which would be funny after what's been said of him on here. I figure either Maddon won't trust Starlin on defense and won't want Baez facing the nastiness of Cole, or Joe won't trust Schwarber in PNC and will move Bryant to LF.

    I remember watching Bryant in the AFL All Star Game a few years ago, and I physically jumped out of my seat when he threw the ball across the infield. His velocity was that startling. He hasn't really shown off his ++arm much this year.

    That was nice of the replay ump to pretend it was close for his partner's sake.

    Yikes. A Major League umpire with that good of view shouldn't be missing that.

    lol, that was a great quote from JD about fans passing on knowledge at a game whether they have it or not. So true.

    So maybe Starlin should be the everyday second baseman.

    I would much prefer Arrieta not face the Pirates again. That said, if the argument for him facing them is that skipping him once would mess up his command/mojo, I would listen to that.

    Starlin and Rizzo have absolutely crushed Peralta in their careers.

    Schwarber's 9th inning homer to tie it in Cincinnati was the single moment that got me the most excited this season. I'm not exactly sure why that is, considering he hit a game winner just a few innings later, Arrieta threw a no-hitter, and we've had numerous walk-off hits and homers. It's not like I missed them, as I was watching when a lot of those things happend. But for some reason, Schwarber's first dong in that game really did it for me.

    That reminds me of the game earlier this year when Molina went off in a post game interview about how the young ump needs a better strike zone. I think he got ejected in that game as well. But the next day Brett had a post with data showing that it was one of the more accurate called games of the year and the very few missed calls went against the Cubs.

    Francisco Lindor has an OPS over .830 and has been worth a full win more than Correa in the same amount of plate appearances. What on earth.

    It was surprisng how early Russell was called up, but I thought he was mostly MLB ready. Good defense and a ~.700 OPS isn't that surprising from him. I didn't think Arrieta would be this good, but with what he did last year, it also isn't shocking. The correct answer is probably Schwarber being up just a year after being drafted and carrying a .900-1.000 OPS for a good bit of time. However, I'm awfully tempted to say it's Bryant's all around game. It's not surprising that he's hitting well. But I was expecting a brutal defender at third base and not a legitimately fast baserunner. Super exciting what he's shown.

    Wow, Marte has 20 defensive runs saved this year.
