  1. lol at having that reaction to getting hit by 97 mph. horsefeathers I'd be dead
  2. Just go ahead and use your monthly XBH for August in this series, Jason.
  3. I laughed out loud when Brinson went back, then had to run way in to catch Heyward's pop up. He, like many, is confused by the linebacker size and slap hitter swing.
  4. Besides getting paid a ton of money to cheer on Ned Colletti's players, what, exactly, does Andrew Friedman do in LA?
  5. The whole game up to this point would've been worth it had he tried to snap that bat over his teeny tiny knee.
  6. And then Bryant doesn't throw home on a ball that was never going to be a double play. I don't get it.
  7. That was clearly a terrible call live. Why are Almora and Rizzo playing this game in slow motion?
  8. Seems pretty shortsighted about a guy who was dynamite in the regular season and playoffs last year & had brief struggles to start the season followed by a good stretch of pitching and a hand injury.. I know it wasn't a shoulder or elbow, but it was still an injury that kept him out well over a month, and he throws 85 mph now. If he wasn't a Cub, we'd all be mocking him in the #NotAllPitchers thread. I think he still belongs in a regular season rotation, but the thought of him in the playoffs gives me major anxiety at the moment. Now, I'm not saying you go out and trade for Verlander just because Hendricks might be broken. You have to feel good about JV first and foremost if you're going to take on that contract. But either way, I like that they are apparently looking hard at him.
  9. I've kind of already decided I don't want to see Hendricks start a playoff game this year should the Cubs make it. And I'm certainly not saying Lackey is the answer.
  10. This is a surprising amount of faith in Rondon. Though I don't mind it with the way Edwards and Uehara have pitched lately.
  11. Just get me a multi-run lead before the Matheny interview. It's what I live for.
  12. Huh, we're totally going into that series next weekend in Milwaukee with a division lead. That is....not what I was expecting going into the AS break
  13. It's best to just treat him like Soler at this point - accept that he sucks but appreciate the handsomeness.
  14. Anyone know off hand how many consecutive years it's been since a WS winner made the playoffs the following year? I think I heard something the other day but I forgot what they said.
  15. I miss when they had that guy playing shortstop
  16. I've got Schwarber taking a hanging curve oppo this inning
  17. I thought today was going to be the day, but maybe it'll have to wait until the 4th time we face Wainwright this season that our hitters won't get dominated
  18. Trout are easy for Dusty to catch, so it doesn't surprise me he'd fear Pujols more
  19. I mean the #1 reason to want Darvish, of course, is because he's a great arm that makes our rotation very, very scary again. But damn, the thought of Lackey pissing and moaning his way off the team sure is a close second
  20. Was at the Iowa game. Maples didn't have to throw many pitches; I saw mostly 96-97, and the last pitch he threw was 99. Also buckled someone's knees on a 2 strike breaking ball. I think I was most impressed by how filthy Justin Hancock (the dude we got for Szczur) is. He was also 96-97 with a very good slider to get a couple of K's. I have no idea why his stats are so mediocre, but he's got a serious arm.
  21. I'm fascinated by this take. Like I get emotions run high late in close games, but I kind of thought "Wade Davis is awesome" is the most widely agreed upon things among Cubs fans. I think more non-NSB Cubs fans would bitch about Bryant and his numbers with RISP over the last 1.5 years than complain about Davis.
  22. Quintana is going to go all 2008 Rich Harden on us. Without the fear of his arm flying off on every pitch.
  23. lol, Quintana had already reached the mound to warm up by the time the ball ended up in Davis' glove. That's TWTW
