  1. Game is at 11:35 CT. Let's hope Dempster isn't a Cub at that time.
  2. Great pics and video, scarey. Baez' movement in his swing doesn't bother me as much from the side as it does from behind, for some reason.
  3. Detroit would need to give up Castellanos in order to get Garza, something I get the feeling they aren't willing to do. They've already moved him to RF in AA, preparing him for a callup this season. There is no way in hell Turner can be the biggest piece at this time. They also have that hard throwing reliever, but there just isn't a lot in that system that interests me. I hope their old owner gets in DD's ear and forces a Castellanos, Turner, + for Garza and Barney deal. Assuming Teheran isn't broken, I wouldn't mind dealing with the Braves. Also, the Rangers have more starting pitchers coming back from injury soon that I thought, so I'm not sure how desperate they are. I do really like Perez though.
  4. Olt is an excellent prospect, but he's being overrated here a little bit. I'd be pretty surprised if the Rangers would turn down Garza for Olt straight up. I mean he's a soon-to-be 24 year-old in AA, plus the Rangers tried really hard to get Garza when he was a Ray. I surely hope Theo wouldn't accept Olt for Garza straight up. As the centerpiece? Sure, but I'd also want Buckel and other arms.
  5. Wasn't Rondon the dude hitting 101 mph in the Futures game?
  6. am I misinterpreting this? There is a Peoria, Arizona. Unfortunately.
  7. I certainly won't complain if he's starting at one of the corner outfield spots next year, but I think you look at his BABIP and the fact that he can't hit lefties and realize that he probably won't ever be this good again. He also won't have much range in the OF, though at least by the eye test so far, he's not Adam Dunn out there. Hopefully some team looks at him as "All-Star Bryan LaHair." Also, I had it in my head for a while that LaHair would just be our LFer next season, but Soriano has surprised the hell out of me this season. Maybe have some work done on his knee this offseason and he can return. Moving him for a few million and crappy prospects probably isn't worth as much as protecting Rizzo and being Starlin's buddy, especially with how low our payroll might be.
  8. Interesting that Law changed his mind after the futures game. He said multiple times there Bundy was his number one prospect. And boy, I'm obviously biased, but I have a hard time believing there are 34 better prospects than Baez. I'd be curious where Sano and Lindor rank. Sickels had some separation between those two and Baez, and I don't quite understand it.
  9. I'd be much more pumped for tonight if it had Giancarlo. Bummer. Bautista will be my pick.
  10. From Sullivan- Replay shows Rizzo was playing far off first on the shift, so perhaps that's why Starlin waited so long.
  11. Well it's not opening day or a playoff game, so Braves fans probably didn't feel like going.
  12. The radar doesn't look like it will last too long. Maybe until 2? Just a guess though.
  13. If the players voted him in, that might have been a couple weeks ago when he did look like the second best 1B in the NL. It's pretty shocking there are two Cubs though.
  14. Let's get Szczur out of Daytona.
  15. because he's flukishly putting up good numbers? what if dave sappelt had put up his line (which was probably just about as likely going into the season) while a decade younger and making league minimum? Well that hasn't happened, but if Sappelt was doing really well at Iowa and Reed was struggling, then Sappelt would've likely taken his spot/maybe Reed retires. I'm not really sure why I brought Reed up, other than to point out it was silly how much hatred the move received. I'll even agree with you that the move was pointless, but the anger over it was a tad silly. Heck, I'm not even a big Reed fan.
  16. I think there are people on here that just don't want to admit that signing Reed ended up being a pretty good choice....or at least a move that people shouldn't be extremely pissed about
  17. If Theo wants to compete next year, this is the player we should target. He has a chance to be a star outside of Petco. I'd easily deal two of Jackson/McNutt/Vitters. Though I'm honestly not sure how much value those guys have, especially McNutt.
  18. Wow, Rizzo in the 3 spot. Hmm. Or does it mean 3 as in scoring position 3 (1st base)? Sveum said he's going to bat 3rd or 4th, so my guess is they were talking about batting order. I'll go .267/.340/.495.
  19. I loathe 22 year old, 4+ win shortstops who make mistakes. Raw, do you think Ichiro and Orlando Hudson have their heads in the game?
  20. No, their ASG was yesterday. Only AAA still has theirs around the big league one. The futures game is still around the MLB ASG, correct? Yep, saw Castro play in it a few years ago when the ASG was in St. Louis. I wish he was still wearing high socks like he did in that game. He still wears the high socks on occasion. He was wearing high socks in one of the more recent games I watched. He does it every Sunday.
  21. Ew, Randy Wells. That injury really ruined him.
  22. I could see Baez and Lake. I'll be shocked if Rizzo isn't in the majors, and do they try to avoid people who have already played in the game? Not sure if they do, but Jackson played in Anaheim, plus he's having a down year.
  23. Interesting. Thanks for posting that. Rizzo reaching the 162 game mark at AAA will line up perfectly with the late June, which is the reason they appear to be going with for keeping him there. That's pretty smart; I was wondering what they would come up with. I do enjoy listening to Theo.
  24. I coompletely agree with this. The only people who think Castro should move to 3B anytime in the near future are the dumb [expletive] fans and schmucks in the media who think FLD% and Errors are the baseline to judge defense. I don't think there is really anyone on here who wants Castro to move to 3B right now, or anytime soon. He might need to move to 3B once he starts to exit his prime years and starts to regress physically but that's 10 +/- years from now. I know the advanced metrics on defense are still being ironed out and fluctuate from season to season, but are they still saying Castro is playing well above defense this year? Yeah, by "everyone" I meant everyone who talks about him switching positions in the media and such. I didn't mean that everyone on here wants him to move.
