  1. I forgot Denorfia was on the bench. Makes more sense that they didn't walk Bryant earlier.
  2. I'd let him start the 8th. I do wish Maddon wouldn't have let him finish last time up 8-0.
  3. Nice, Kris. Can't believe the Cardinals didn't walk Bryant and have Montero face a lefty or force Herrera/Ross to beat them.
  4. lol, 33 K's in over 80 innings. Does get a ton of GB's though.
  5. Ump missed the call that would've had Jay down in the count. Called a strike on Starlin that was in the left-handed batters box. Both completely changed the AB's.
  6. A friendly reminder to the four umpires - a pitcher must pause before delivering a pitch with runners on base.
  7. Hey Lackey, Rizzo had cancer, why don't you leave him
  8. Nice job, Maddon. I hate hit and runs, but they make sense with Castro.
  9. Fowler maybe shouldn't be starting if that's how fast he can move.
  10. I don't like the fact that Randal Grichuk is hitting for a lot more power than Kris Bryant.
  11. he actually claims to have never had alcohol, iirc, according to one of the beat writers (can't remember which) Jesse Rogers said that. There were also articles when he was drafted that he didn't do any drinking in college.
  12. The hopeful Cub fan side of me still says Lester will age more gracefully than Scherzer and handle a decline in stuff better. Scherzer gives up so many fly balls and so few homers. That won't last as he gets older and loses a little velo. Not saying I wouldn't rather have Scherzer right now, but that's how I'll rationalize it. Plus, maybe Donnie Dewees will be awesome!
  13. So it sounds like they are going to shut down the catcher thing after a while and probably move him into LF for a short period of time before a callup? I'm hoping this is something they'll do closer to August than September. Lots of other interesting stuff here: http://www.bleachernation.com/2015/06/26/theo-epstein-speaks-buyers-and-sellers-lester-schwarber-maddon-more/ Such a scenario seems like an obvious September call-up situation strictly for 2015 bat purposes. Then he can go back to AAA to catch more in early 2016. i say we make it aug 31 or earlier Pretty sure players just have to be on the 40 man by that date, not necessarily on the big league roster. Though I think he'll be back up by then anyway.
  14. Schwarber triples for his first AAA hit as well.
  15. Correct. The second one nearly clipped Maddon.
  16. I feel bad for the people who paid money to attend this game.
  17. Unless he hurt his wrist on his check swing, he hasn't been involved in a play where he could've been injured. Hopefully just ill again.
  18. Please God tell me Bryant is expecting a child as well.
  19. Yikes, that's not a pretty Cubs lineup, but at least the Dodgers were kind enough to sit Puig, Gonzalez, and Pederson.

    Castro

2015 hasn't been kind to shortstops. Starlin isn't even the worst shortstop in town this season. Decent/really good players at that position have just has an awful time of it so far - Starlin, Ramirez, Desmond, Andrus.
  21. Not only do they take the original call into account too much, they also take forever to make the call. If they aren't going to overturn the call unless it was an embarrassingly awful one, then they should be able to see that after, like, two looks. If you ARE going to take 4 minutes to look at the replay, then actually make the call based on what the video says, which is what they should do.
